WWE, an Americanprofessional wrestling promotion based inStamford, Connecticut, in theUnited States owned byTKO Group Holdings, has been promoting events inAustralia since 1985 when they were the World Wrestling Federation.

WWF first toured the country in 1985, visitingMelbourne,Perth,Newcastle and throughBrisbane and Melbourne again in 1986. The next time WWE came to Australia was for theWWE Global Warning Tour in 2002 for what was the first WWE event in Australia in 16 years.[1][2] WWE has visited Australia regularly since then by touring at least once a year from 2003 to 2019, with the 2020 and 2021 tours postponed due to theCOVID-19 pandemic.[3][better source needed]. WWE'sNXT brand made its first tour in December 2016.[4]

In 2018, WWE announcedSuper Show-Down at theMelbourne Cricket Ground – the first ever WWEpay-per-view (PPV) to be held in Australia.[5] In 2023, WWE announced the2024 edition ofElimination Chamber to be held inPerth Stadium in February 2024.[6]

In May 2025, WWE announced the2025 edition ofCrown Jewel to be held alongside Monday NightRaw and Friday NightSmackDown at theRAC Arena between October 10 and October 13.[7]

WWE Global Warning Tour: Melbourne was aprofessional wrestling event produced byWorld Wrestling Entertainment that took place on August 10, 2002, atColonial Stadium inMelbourne, Victoria, Australia. This event marked the return of WWE to Australia for the first time since 1986.[11]Michael Cole andTazz recorded the commentary from WWE headquarters inStamford, Connecticut. The event featured nine matches (including 3 dark matches), where in the main eventThe Rock defeatedTriple H andBrock Lesnar in aTriple Threat match to retain theWWE Undisputed Championship.[12] Global Warning did not air onpay-per-view (PPV), but was released on home video.[13] The event aired in November 2002 as part of the WWE Fanatic Series and in January 2003 onSky 1 inNew Zealand.[14] In October 2018, Global Warning was added to the on demand list on theWWE Network.[14] It was re-released onDVD in December 2018, as part of a double pack with WWE Super Show-Down.[15]

NXT television taping

The first tour to Australia of the NXT brand in December 2016 included a show at Melbourne'sMargaret Court Arena which served as a television taping for NXT's January 4, 2017, edition on the WWE Network. Five matches from the show were shown, withShinsuke Nakamura retaining theNXT Championship againstSamoa Joe as the main event. Of the other matches shown three featured Australian wrestlers. Buddy Murphy teamed withTye Dillinger to defeat the team ofBobby Roode andElias,TM-61 were defeated by theNXT Tag Team champions DIY (Tommaso Ciampa andJohnny Gargano), and Billie Kay along withLiv Morgan were defeated byEmber Moon. The other televised match sawThe Revival defeat the team ofRiddick Moss andTino Sabbatelli.[17] In matches not televised, Peyton Royce could not defeatNXT Women's championAsuka,Andrade Almas defeatedWesley Blake andOney Lorcan defeatedPatrick Clark.[18]

Super Show-Down (2018)

WWE Super Show-Down was aprofessional wrestlingpay-per-view (PPV)event andWWE Networkevent, produced byWWE for theirRaw,SmackDown, and205 Livebrands. It took place on October 6, 2018, at theMelbourne Cricket Ground inMelbourne,Australia[19] and featured ten matches including two involving Australian wrestlers,Buddy Murphy andThe IIconics. Murphy defeated Cedric Alexander to win theWWE Cruiserweight Championship,[20] whileBillie Kay andPeyton Royce defeated the team ofAsuka andNaomi.[21]Elias in a microphone spot also referenced Australian sport, claiming he was friends withMick Malthouse and accusedCollingwood of choking in the previous weekend'smatch.[22] The event drew 70,309 people.[23]

Elimination Chamber (2024)

On 21 September 2023, WWE announced thatElimination Chamber would take place on 24 February 2024 atPerth Stadium.[24] The event featured five matches, including one on the pre-show, featuring two Australian wrestlers,Indi Hartwell andRhea Ripley. Hartwell andCandice LeRae failed to win theWWE Women's Tag Team Championship fromThe Kabuki Warriors (Asuka andKairi Sane) on the pre-show while Ripley defeated Australia-bornNia Jax in the main event to retain theWomen's World Championship. Australia nativeGrayson Waller hosted his talk show,The Grayson Waller Effect featuringCody Rhodes andWorld Heavyweight ChampionSeth "Freakin" Rollins.[25]

Crown Jewel: Perth

The 2025Crown Jewel, also promoted asCrown Jewel: Perth, was aprofessional wrestlingevent produced by the AmericancompanyWWE. It was the seventhCrown Jewel and took place on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at theRAC Arena inPerth, Western Australia, Australia. The event featured the crowning of the second men's and women'sCrown Jewel Champions.[26]

Brisbane Cup

Between 2006 and 2011,[30][31] the Brisbane Cup was awarded to the winner of aBattle Royal held on RAW and SmackDown House Shows inBrisbane, Queensland, Australia. The winner would also receive aWorld Championship match that same evening.[32]
