WTZB (105.9FM "Z105") is acommercialradio stationlicensed toEnglewood, Florida, and serving theSarasota -Bradenton area ofCentral Florida. It airs a hard-edgedmainstream rockformat and is owned byiHeartMedia, Inc. Thestudios and offices are on Fruitville Road (Florida State Road 780) in Sarasota.

WTZB is aClass C3 station. It has aneffective radiated power (ERP) of 25,000watts. Thetransmittertower is on North Auburn Road inVenice, Florida.[2] WTZB broadcasts usingHD Radio technology. The HD2digital subchannel carries anoldies format known as "The Vinyl Experience." WTZB's programming is also heard on 250-wattFM translatorW286CQ at 105.1MHz in Sarasota.

History

The stationsigned on the air in 1999; 26 years ago (1999). Its originalcall sign was WYNF. As aconstruction permit, before it was built, the station also had call letters WEDD and WLTF. In 2002, it used the call sign WSRQ before becoming WTZB the following year.

On February 1, 2016, WTZB changed its format fromactive rock (as "105.9 The Buzz") toclassic rock, branded as "Z105". Leading up to the format flip, WTZBstunted by playingAC/DC's "For Those About to Rock" on a loop for an entire weekend.[3]

On September 23, 2019, the station launched a live local morningdrive time show titled "Frank's Garage" hosted by aDJ known as "Frank The Tank." In 2023, Z105 adjusted its format tomainstream rock.
