It is owned byiHeartMedia, with studios on North Jensen Road in Vestal.[3] ThesyndicatedValentine in the Morning show from co-ownedKBIGLos Angeles is heard in morningdrive time, withDelilah airing on weeknights andEllen K on Saturday mornings.
WMXW has aneffective radiated power (ERP) of 520watts. Thetransmitter is off Ingraham Hill Road inBinghamton, amid other towers for local TV and FM stations.[4]
The stationsigned on the air on June 2, 1989; 36 years ago (1989-06-02).[5] From its start, it was an AC station, but at first it playedsoft adult contemporary music. It was owned by local business people.
In 1997, it was bought by Majac of Michigan, Inc.[6] Majac kept the AC format. In 2000, it was acquired byClear Channel Communications, which also left its AC format in place.[7] Clear Channel in 2014 became iHeartMedia, the current owner.
