WGBF-FM (103.1FM) is aradio station broadcasting amainstream rockformat.Licensed toHenderson, Kentucky, the station serves theEvansville metropolitan area ofIndiana andKentucky. The station is owned byTownsquare Media with studios on NW 3rd Street in Evansville.[2] Monday through Saturday mornings, WGBF airs thenationally syndicatedThe Free Beer and Hot Wings Show.
WGBF-FM has aneffective radiated power (ERP of 3,200watts. The station broadcasts usingHD radio technology.[3]
WGBF-FMsigned on the air in December 1971; 53 years ago (1971-12). In 1979, the station'scall letters were changed to WHKC, calling itself "KC103". By 1984, WHKC broadcast aTop 40 (CHR) format.
The station returned to the WGBF-FM call letters in 1986 and switched to amainstream rock format, which it still broadcasts today.
Under the ownership of Larry Aiken from 1987 to 1996, WGBF-FM was one of the first stations to broadcast the syndicatedBob & Tom Show outside of their home base ofIndianapolis.
