It islicensed toDallas, Georgia, United States, and serves the west-northwesternAtlanta metropolitan area. The station is owned by Word Christian Broadcasting Inc. Much of the programming issimulcast with co-owned 1500WDCY inDouglasville, Georgia and 1300WNEA inNewnan, Georgia.
WDPC is adaytimer, transmitting with 5,000watts during daytime hours and with 3,200 watts duringcritical hours at local sunrise and sunset. The stationsigns off during nighttime hours becauseAM 1500 is aclear channel frequency. The station is classified as aclass D station by theU.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
WDPC signed on in September 1979 asWKRP. At first, the FCC denied thecall sign to the new station, stating thatMTM Enterprises, the producers of the popularCBS television seriesWKRP in Cincinnati, had a 'hold' on the call letters. When the station's lawyer told the FCC that "MTM is neither a licensee, nor a permittee. Therefore, MTM has no legal basis to reserve the WKRP callsign", the FCC allowed the assignment. In August 1989, the station switched to WDPC, meaning Dallas/Paulding County.
