WFAX (1220kHz, "La Pantera 100.7 Y 1220 AM") is anregional Mexican andreggaeton formattedbroadcast AmericanAM radio station licensed toFalls Church, Virginia, serving MetroWashington, D.C.[1] WFAX is owned and operated by Jose Villafañe's Costa Media, through licensee Costa Media Boston LLC.[5]
On June 8, 2022, following its purchase from Newcomb Broadcasting Corporation, WFAX had announced that it would change its format from Christian talk and teaching to regional Mexican/Hispanic rhythmic branded as "La Pantera" on July 1.[6]
WFAX and co-ownedWDCN-LD (87.7 FM) broadcast allWashington Nationals games in Spanish for the2024 season.[7] Prior to the2025 season, the agreement was extended for an additional three years.[8]
WFAX has one FM translator, on 100.7, co-located with its AM transmitter. The signal is almost entirely directed to the southwest to protectWZBA on the same frequency.
