Thevisa policy of Jordan deals with the requirements which a foreign citizen wishing to enterJordan must meet to be permitted to travel to, enter and remain in the country.

Jordanianvisas are issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its diplomatic missions abroad with the stated goal of regulating and facilitating migratory flows.

Visitors to Jordan must obtain a visa from a Jordanian diplomatic mission unless they come from one of the 10 visa-exempt countries and territories or one of the 120 countries and territories whose citizens are eligible for a visa on arrival.[1]

Citizens of member nations of theGulf Cooperation Council,Lebanon, andTurkey may travel to Jordan without visa limits for a maximum stay of 3 months in a 6-month period. However, citizens ofEgypt,Russia,Uzbekistan and residents of thePalestinian Authority have visa free access for one month in a 6-month period.[2]

All visitors must hold a passport valid for 6 months beyond the period of intended stay and with two blank pages. Visitors to Jordan must hold a non-refundable return or circle trip tickets except for Government workers continuing toIraq.

Visa exemption

The following citizens do not require a visa to enter, reside, study, and work indefinitely in theHashemite Kingdom of Jordan without anyimmigration requirements:

  • Jordan Jordanian citizens1
  • Holders of a travel document issued byJordan to stateless persons and refugees, including their wife and children with proof thereof.

1 - May enter with a Jordanian identity card or an expired Jordanian passport.

Ordinary passports

Holders of ordinary passports of the following countries and territories may enter Jordan without a visa for business or tourist trips for the following period:[1]

1 - Provided that the passport's number does not start with "00".

  • A visa is not required for citizens ofSyria andYemenonly if they have a residence permit issued by any country of theEU, any country ofGCC, any country ofEFTA,Canada or have a Permanent Resident Card (Green Card) issued by theUS. The residence permit should be valid for at least 6 months and must have a non-refundable round trip tickets.
  • A visa is not required for citizens whose family members are citizens of Ukraine residing in Jordan.

Visa free agreement for tourists visiting up to 30 days was signed withRussia.[4][5][6]

Non-ordinary passports

Citizens of countries and territories other than the following listed below and the countries and territories whose citizens are visa-exempt may obtain a visa on arrival for 30 days for 40JOD. Extension of stay is possible for up to 60 days.

Visa on arrival are not issued to holders of emergency, temporary, or ordinary passports issued by the following countries and territories. These citizens can apply for a visit visa through theJordan Ministry of Interior E-Services Site:[1][7]

1 - visa on arrivalonly if they have a residence permit issued by any country of the European Union, any country of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Australia, Canada, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland or have a Permanent Resident Card (Green Card) issued by the US. The residence permit should be valid for at least 6 months and must have a non-refundable return or circle trip tickets.
2 - visa on arrival if they are traveling for medical treatment for female or male older than 50 years and younger than 15 years.
3 - visa on arrival if they have a residence permit issued by a country whose citizens may obtain a visa on arrival for a maximum stay of 2 months. The residence permit should be valid for at least 6 months and must have a non-refundable return or circle trip tickets.

There are special visa on arrival rules for citizens of the following countries and territories:

  • Iraq - Citizens of Iraq with a visa issued by anySchengen area country,United Kingdom orUnited States may obtain visa-on-arrival.[1]
  • Morocco - For women between the ages of 17 and 35, prior approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs is required. All other citizens are eligible for a visa on arrival.[1]
  • Sri Lanka - visa on arrival for a maximum stay of 2 months provided traveling on Royal Jordanian Airlines (RJ) and are holding hotel reservation in a 3 to 5 star hotel and an official documents confirming business or official delegate status.
  • Accompanying staff (housemaids, drivers), traveling with their employer, may obtain a visa on arrival for a maximum stay of 3 months, but this is not applicable for holders of ordinary passports ofMyanmar,Syria andYemen.
  • Visa on arrival for holders ofInterpol passports provided they are traveling on duty. In addition, the Interpol office inAmman must be notified before departure.

Electronic visa (e-Visa)

Foreign citizens may also obtain an e-Visa (exceptAfghanistan,Bangladesh,Iran,Nigeria andSyria).[8]

Citizens of the following countries must apply for a visa at a Jordanian embassy or consulate:

  • Malaysia - Jordan does not recognize the MalaysianEmergency Certificate. Transit inside the Queen Alia Terminal Airport is allowed, but not to go out of the terminal. Malaysians who holding Emergency Certificate require Single Journey Travel from issued country to Malaysia.

Transit

A transit visa is not required if holding a confirmed onward ticket for a flight to a third country within 48 hours.
