VirtualDubMod is anopen-sourcevideo capture andprocessing tool forMicrosoft Windows, based on Avery Lee'sVirtualDub.

History

[edit]

The final version, 1.5.10.2, was released on 29 August 2005.[2] Version 1.5.10.2 (build 2542) was released on 21 February 2006. In February 2005, "fccHandler", an administrator on the VirtualDub forums, claimed that development had been discontinued.[3] A version labeled "VirtualDubMod 1.6.0.0 SURROUND" was released by a company called Aud-X in April 2006.[4][5] A version 1.5.10.3 (build 2550) was released by www.virtualdub-fr.org (created by "Sparad0x") on 1 January 2008.[6][7]

Features

[edit]

VirtualDubMod merged several specializedforks of VirtualDub posted on theDoom9 forums. Added features includedMatroska (MKV) support,OGM support, andMPEG-2 support.[8]

One notable feature that remains missing in VirtualDubMod is the ability to program timed video captures, which was present in one VirtualDub fork called VirtualDubVCR.[9]

Despite the abandonment of development of VirtualDubMod, some of its features can be added to VirtualDub through input plugins andACMcodecs provided by users on VirtualDub forums.[10]
