Virginia Dream FC is an Americansoccer club. It currently competes in the Mid-Atlantic Conference of theNational Premier Soccer League, considered the fourth tier of theUnited States soccer league system.

The team's home field isMeridian High School Stadium inFalls Church, Virginia.

History

Virginia Dream FC was founded by 2016Gatorade National Boys Soccer Player of the Year and former professional playerLucas Mendes in 2022.[1] The team joined theNational Premier Soccer League later the same year with plans to debut in the2023 season.[2] The team's first match was a 2–2 draw on the road against fellow expansion sideGreenville United FC on May 6, 2023.[3]

In May 2023, the team was announced as a participant in the inaugural edition ofThe Soccer Tournament inCary, North Carolina.[4][5] Dream was drawn into Group C alongside teams representingLiga MX sideClub Necaxa, 13-timeIsraeli Premier League championHapoel Tel Aviv F.C., and SLC FC of Canada. The team lost all three of its group stage matches and failed to advance to the knockout round.[6]

In November 2024, Dream qualified for theU.S. Open Cup for the first time, defeatingAegean Hawks toqualify for the2025 U.S. Open Cup[7]
