Virginia's 9th Senate district is one of 40 districts in theSenate of Virginia.

Geography

District 9 is based primarily in theCity of Richmond, stretching to also include all ofCharles City County and parts ofHanover County andHenrico County.[3]

The district overlaps with Virginia's1st and4th congressional districts, and with the55th,68th,69th,70th,71st,72nd,73rd, and74th districts of theVirginia House of Delegates.[4]

FollowingJennifer McClellan'selection to Congress, a special election was called for the district.Lamont Bagby, the Democratic nominee,[6] won the election with 89.84% of the vote.
