Virginia's 4th Senate district is one of 40 districts in theSenate of Virginia. It has been represented byRepublicanRyan McDougle since his victory in a 2006 special election.[3]

Geography

District 4 stretches from just outsideFredericksburg to theChesapeake Bay, including all of theNorthern Neck and parts of theMiddle Peninsula. It covers all ofCaroline,Essex,Middlesex,Lancaster,Northumberland, andRichmond Counties, as well as parts ofHanover,King George,Spotsylvania, andWestmoreland Counties.[3]

The district overlaps with Virginia's1st and7th congressional districts, and with the54th,55th,97th,98th, and99th districts of theVirginia House of Delegates.[4]
