From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Football League

This article is about the governing body that operated between 1991 and 1999. For the reserves competition it ran, seeAFL reserves. For the current soccer league, seeVictorian State League.

TheVictorian State Football League (VSFL) was anAustralian rules football governing body.[1]

The VSFL was established at the end of 1991 to take over administration of football in Victoria from theAustralian Football League, which was now becoming pre-occupied with administration of the game nationally.

The VSFL ran theAFL reserves competition from 1992 until 1999, which was also known as the VSFL from 1992 until 1994.[2] The body also ran the Under-18s competition now known as theTAC Cup. At the end of 1994, the VSFL took over administration of theVictorian Football Association competition (which it renamed theVictorian Football League in 1996).[3]

At the end of 1999, the VSFL was succeeded in an administrative capacity byFootball Victoria (now known as AFL Victoria).
