Roman nymph and goddess of marine winds
For the taxonomic synonym of a genus of plants, seeScrophularia.

Venilia (pronounced/vəˈnɪliə/, or as LatinVenīlia) is aRoman deity associated with the winds and the sea. According toVirgil andOvid, she was anymph, the sister ofAmata and the wife ofJanus[1] (orFaunus),[2] with whom she had three children:Turnus,Juturna, andCanens.[2]

She andSalacia are theparedrae of Neptune.

The Venilia Mons, amountain on Venus, is named for her.[3]
