TheVelmerstot is the northernmost and highest hill in theEggegebirge ridge in the German state ofNorth Rhine-Westphalia. It has two summits, the Prussian Velmerstot (Preußische Velmerstot) (468 m), which lies on the territory ofSteinheim-Sandebeck in the county ofHöxter, and the Lippe Velmerstot (Lippische Velmerstot) (51°50′26″N8°37′16″E / 51.84056°N 8.62111°E /51.84056; 8.62111, 441 m), which is located in the county ofLippe. The whole hill is part of theTeutoburg Forest / Egge Hills Nature Park.

During theCold War, the hill had aNATO and Dutch air defence installations; they left by 1994 and the installations were torn down in 2002/03.
