Veertien Mie (ヴィアティン三重,Viatin Mie) is a Japanese football club based betweenKuwana andYokkaichi,Mie Prefecture. They currently play in theJapan Football League, Japanese fourth tier of league football.
"Veertien" means "fourteen" inDutch, afterJohan Cruijff's playing number. As withV-Varen Nagasaki, their colours are orange with traces of blue.[1] Founded asVeertien FC in 2012 to bring a team fromMie Prefecture to professional football inJapan,Doru Isac was invited to overview the activities at the club. After using the nameVeertien Kuwana for two seasons from 2013, they converted the identity from the 2015 season toVeertien Mie.[2]
Results came rapidly, since the club was able to clinch five promotions in a row, from the 3rd division of the Mie Prefectural League to theJapan Football League for the2017 season. They also featured in one edition of theEmperor's Cup, reaching the 2nd round in2014 and losing toCerezo Osaka only after extra time.
