Vasile Ilie "Lică" Jula (born 13 December 1974) is a retiredRomanian footballer who played as adefender.[2]
Jula was born on 13 December 1974 inDej,Romania and began playing junior-level football in 1984 atUniversitatea Cluj.[1][3] He made hisDivizia A debut on 20 June 1993, playing for "U" under the guidance of coachRemus Vlad in a 5–1 away loss toGloria Bistrița.[1][3][4] Afterwards he spent one and a half seasons atDivizia B clubArmătura Zalău.[1][5] In the middle of the1994–95 season, Jula returned to Universitatea.[1][5]
In 1999, he joinedGloria Bistrița where he spent five seasons, the highlight of this period being a third place in the2002–03 season.[1][5] In 2004, Jula switched teams again, going toCFR Cluj.[1][5] Under coachDorinel Munteanu he played eight games in the2005 Intertoto Cup campaign as CFR got pastVėtra,Athletic Bilbao,Saint-Étienne andŽalgiris, scoring once against each of the first and the latter, the team reaching the final where they were defeated 4–2 on aggregate byLens.[1][6][7] He also helpedThe Railwaymen earn a third place in the2006–07 season.[1]
Jula moved toDacia Mioveni for thefollowing season where on 23 February 2008 he made his last Romanian first league appearance in a 3–0 away loss toVaslui, having a total of 301 matches with seven goals in the competition, also totaling 13 games with two goals in theIntertoto Cup.[1][5] In 2008 he joinedthird league sideFC Zalău where he played for five years, retiring afterwards.[1][2][5]
In 2005, he was called up by coachVictor Pițurcă to play forRomania, but he was only a reserve during the2006 World Cup qualification game againstFinland.[8]
In the first part of the2013–14 season, Jula was the manager ofFC Zalău in thethird league.[9] In February 2019, he was appointed head coach at Unirea Mirșid, managing by the end of theseason to earn promotion from thefourth to the third league.[5][10] In April 2021, Jula was the caretaker manager ofSCM Zalău.[11]
