Vasil Todorov Gyuzelev (Bulgarian:Васил Тодоров Гюзелев, born 19 October 1936) is aBulgarianhistorian who studies Bulgaria during theMiddle Ages.
Gyuzelev was born in the village of Rakovski (today part ofDimitrovgrad) in 1936. Between 1954 and 1959 he studied history and archaeology in theSofia University and then worked for a short time in the Museum of History inDimitrovgrad. Gyuzelev worked in the Sofia university and served as a director of theNational Museum of History between 1975 and 1977. In 1995 he became associate member and in 2003 academician of theBulgarian Academy of Sciences.
Gyuzelev is author of more than 50 books and 240 articles.
