Víctor Suances y Díaz del Río[1] was a Spanish military officer who served as the last colonial administrator ofSpanish Guinea from August 1966[2] until the independence ofEquatorial Guinea in October 1968.[3] During his tenure as colonial administrator, Spanish Guinea held aconstitutional referendum and ageneral election in the months leading to independence, in whichFrancisco Macías Nguema was elected as the country's firstpresident.[3]
