History of Greenland World War 2

[edit]

A tag has been placed onHistory of Greenland World War 2, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under thecriteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please seeWikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be onnotable subjects and should provide references toreliable sources thatverify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request thatadministrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template{{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article'stalk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this.coelacan01:26, 21 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale forImage:PG3D_screnshot.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploadingImage:PG3D_screnshot.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used underfair use but there is noexplanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to theboilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go tothe image description page and edit it to include afair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described oncriteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at theMedia copyright questions page. Thank you.Yonatantalk08:42, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploadingImage:Fakta.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Using one of the templates atWikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to ourCriteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at theMedia copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot05:03, 1 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Flag icons

[edit]

Hi. Please don't add flag icons to every mention of a country. Per the guidelines, they arenot intended as decoration. They may be suitable in a list of mixed items where space is at a premium, such as the lists of generals in battle infoboxes (e.g.Operation Barbarossa). Thanks. Michael Z. 2008-08-31 01:12 z

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploadingImage:2008 S-tog plan.JPG. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the image (or other media file) agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under theGFDL or another acceptable free license (seethis list)at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication topermissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letterhere.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the image to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the image has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email topermissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria atWikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as{{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed atWikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add arationale justifying the image's use on the article or articles where it is included. SeeWikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by followingthis link.Images lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described oncriteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at theMedia copyright questions page. Thank you.Hemmingsen18:53, 13 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

DearWikiProject Video games member,

You are receiving this message because you have eitherCategory:WikiProject Video games members or{{User WPVG}} somewhere in youruserspace and you have edited Wikipedia in recent months.

The Video games project has created amember list to provide a clearer picture of its active membership.

All members have currently been placed in the "Inactive" section by default. Please remove your username from the "Inactive" listing and place it under the "Active" listing if you plan on regularly:

Ideally, members are encouraged to do both, but either one meets our criteria of inclusion. Members still listed inactive at the beginning of November 2009 may be removed. You may re-add yourself to the active list at any time. Thank you for your help, and we look forward to working with you.

Fair use rationale for File:Giant Hypermarket.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing toFile:Giant Hypermarket.gif. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used underfair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go tothe file description page and edit it to include afair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described oncriteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at theMedia copyright questions page. Thank you.FASTILYsock(TALK)05:48, 23 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination ofImperion

[edit]

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, fordeletion. The nominated article isImperion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see alsoWikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments toWikipedia:Articles for deletion/Imperion. Please be sure tosign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove thearticles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by abot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk)01:09, 29 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File copyright problem with File:VP Market.svg.png

[edit]

Thank you for uploadingFile:VP Market.svg.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takescopyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine thelicense and thesource of the file. If you know this information, then you can add acopyright tag to theimage description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created inyour upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at themedia copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation.Skier Dude (talk01:29, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:UserWonxlogo.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploadingFile:UserWonxlogo.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under theCC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (seethis list)at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication topermissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letterhere. If you take this step, add{{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email topermissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria atWikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as{{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed atWikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add arationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. SeeWikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created inyour upload log.Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described oncriteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at theMedia copyright questions page. Thank you.Skier Dude (talk01:34, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:Regionstog.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploadingFile:Regionstog.png. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set ofimage copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag fromthis list, click onthis link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message onWikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk)15:06, 6 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination ofIrma City

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to readthe guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using theArticle Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed onIrma City requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done undersection A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under thecriteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Pleasesee the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding{{hang on}} tothe top ofthe page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note onthe talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged forspeedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contactone of these administrators to request that the administratoruserfy the page or email a copy to you.LiteralKa (talk)21:07, 30 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free rationale for File:PG III SE box art.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing toFile:PG III SE box art.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used undernon-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go tothe file description page, and edit it to include anon-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described oncriteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make arequest for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at theMedia copyright questions page. Proposed deletion ofReal virtuality

[edit]

The articleReal virtuality has beenproposed for deletion because of the following concern:

WP:NEO: from given sources, this is just a term used in one essay in 1991.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may bedeleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the{{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in youredit summary or onthe article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing{{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop theproposed deletion process, but otherdeletion processes exist. In particular, thespeedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, andarticles for deletion allows discussion to reachconsensus for deletion.McGeddon (talk) 12:38, 23 October 2013 (UTC)McGeddon (talk)12:38, 23 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

March Madness 2017

[edit]

G'day all, please be advised that throughout March 2017 the Military history Wikiproject is running itsMarch Madness drive. This is a backlog drive that is focused on several key areas:

  • tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
  • updating the project's currently listed A-class articles to ensure their ongoing compliance with the listed criteria
  • creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various task force pages or other lists of missing articles.

As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.

The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the military history scope will be considered eligible. More information can be foundhere for those that are interested, and members can sign up as participants at that page also.

The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 March and runs until 23:59 UTC on 31 March 2017, so please sign up now.

For the Milhist co-ordinators. Regards,AustralianRupert (talk) &MediaWiki message delivery (talk)07:24, 26 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]
Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploadingFile:Fakta-sign.jpg.

This image is aderivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such images would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a screenshot of a computer game or movie. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original image must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overallcopyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright.

If you have uploaded other derivative works, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have createdin your upload log.Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described insection F4 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under anon-free license (perWikipedia:Fair use) thenthe image will be deleted48 hours after 19:04, 9 May 2018 (UTC). If the file is already gone, you can still make arequest for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at theMedia copyright questions page. File permission problem with File:Opuntia stricta QLD.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploadingFile:Opuntia stricta QLD.JPG, which you've attributed to David H.. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under theCC BY-SA or another acceptable free license (seethis list)at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication topermissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letterhere. If you take this step, add{{permission pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email topermissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria atWikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as{{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed atWikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add arationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. SeeWikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. Here isa list of your uploads.Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described insection F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia'simage use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at theMedia copyright questions page. Thank you. --TheImaCow (talk)11:21, 29 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
