We have a problem. Help please.

[edit]

Sorry but we have a problem. Some one is giving false info on the Islam in Iceland page.Giving false data. On the number of Muslims living in Iceland.

The Iclandic "Hagstofa" records everything of the matter. And their are 402 Muslims now living in Iceland.

http://hagstofa.is/?PageID=632&src=/temp/Dialog/varval.asp?ma=MAN10200%26ti=Mannfj%F6ldi+eftir+tr%FAf%E9l%F6gum+og+skr%E1ningu+1994%2D2008+++++++++++++%26path=../Database/mannfjoldi/Trufelog/%26lang=3%26units=fjöldi

Iceland is a very small country with a very small population so most things like this are recorded.I just want something done about this persons account who is making this false info editing.

I care about this website and always want to give facts with links to suport them. False info editing is a problem we need to deal with.

Thanks in advance.—Precedingunsigned comment added byAdalDrottinn (talkcontribs)22:52, 29 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Figured out how to access the referenced article and made the following change "The Association of Muslims in Iceland had 341 members in 2006<ref name="US">[http://www.state.gov/g/drl/rls/irf/2006/71385.htm International Religious Freedom Report 2006]</ref>, which had grown to 402 in 2008<ref>{{cite web | title = Statistics Iceland | date = 2009 | url = http://www.statice.is/Statistics/Population/Religious-organizations | format = English | accessdate = 29 August 2009}}</ref>." Hopefully this addresses your concerns - if not send me another note.
Thanks -Williamborg (Bill)23:47, 29 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your responds.I hope you can help me add some links. Also sorry to bother you. There are about 600 people in Iceland that have a backround from a country that has majority Muslim population. Some are of Bahai faith and most are Muslim. So the false claim that more than 1200 Muslims live here holds no water. That wouled mean that we had a few hundred Icelandic converts that didnt want to register as Muslims for some reson. The claim is ridiculous. If he/she had claimed it were 500-600 in stead of 402 I would have left it alone. I live in Reykjvík btw and never see any Muslims here.—Precedingunsigned comment added byAdalDrottinn (talkcontribs)00:13, 30 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"clastic dike" not "clastic flow"

[edit]

Thanks for uploading photos on theTouchet Formation of Washington state. I noticed an error in the caption for one of the photos (4th from top). It should read "Clastic dike penetrating Touchet layers. Photo taken in a road cut several miles up the Touchet Valley." Change "flow" to "dike" for accuracy.—Precedingunsigned comment added by97.126.142.137 (talk)14:19, 6 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of the link to the website containing pictures of all national parks of Norway

[edit]

Hello, on the 'List of national parks of Norway' there was my link to the website covering all existing and planned national parks of Norway (Goahteluoppal, Sjunkhatten etc. - I also updated the Wiki page with these parks) but it has been deleted by anti-spammers. The link waswww.garycki.com/NORWEGIAN_NATIONAL_PARKS.html. It might have been considered as the 'self-promotion'. Please consider readdition of the link (I am not allowed to do so) if you find the source valuable. Some upload of pictures to Wikipedia may also be considered with the correct crediting. Also other links to www.garycki.com disappeared: from Lists of national parks of Sweden, Poland, Slovakia and Germany.[1][2][3][4]The same ask for help regards these links.—Precedingunsigned comment added by195.60.217.12 (talk)12:00, 11 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hanford Site

[edit]

Uranium Trioxide / Uranium Oxide plant - thanks for pointing that out... i tried to fix it. i combined it all into on and added info/refs. see what you think.

obviously the subject of processing facilities at hanford could have its own page but i dont feel like making it.

as for the 'see also' section, i have no idea why i put stuff in there. i just thought 'hmm,,, how about mentioning some other nuclear resrearch sites in the USA'. it seemed a bit silly to have a page on hanford without mentioning any of the other sites that it routinely interacted with an that were a part of the nuclear complex of the US. please feel free to delete/rerrange/add/whatever.

i think maybe eventually they need one of those big infobox type things at the bottom of the page, you know, like they have for other areas of interest.

thanks again for catching my mistake!!!!!!!!!!Decora (talk)22:20, 5 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Norway

[edit]

It is of interest to note that among the more populous nations the nation with the highest per capita generation of electrical energy according to data in the annual World Almanac (data for 2005) is Norway. The generation in billions of kilowatthours is 135.8, the population is 4,627,926, and this results in a per capita figure of 29,344 kwhs per annum per person. The fact that hydro is plentiful evidently in Norway and that some, perhaps much, of the energy is sold to neighboring nations, even nations across the Baltic straits, might be a factor. Even so, this is more than twice the per capita generation of the U.S., often considered to be the nation with the greatest energy appetite. It also might be noted that other nations, including Canada and Sweden, rank higher than the U.S. and Finland comes in close behind. It would be of interest to me if this might be verified by others as a matter to be made more widely known.66.81.246.73 (talk)02:02, 19 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I am contacting you because you are listed as a participant forWikiProject Norway, and the above-mentioned article is sourced by all Norwegian-language references. Moreover, the references do not appear to supportnotability; they might be mere trivial references to the subject. Since these sources are all offline, and I do not speak or read Norwegian, I'm hoping whether you can assist me in determining whether the article qualifies forspeedy deletion. Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you toreview other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing atwo-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are notautoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obviousvandalism orBLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (seeWikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be foundhere.

Speedy deletion nomination ofFile:Yeager-Rock-Erractic-PB110039.JPG

[edit]

A tag has been placed onFile:Yeager-Rock-Erractic-PB110039.JPG requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done undersection F2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit thethe page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged forspeedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.Sfan00 IMG (talk)15:14, 11 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Cirque de Navacelles

[edit]

I noticed your latest intelligent edit on theCirques page- as a non geologists- I remain frustrated by the use of the ambiguous term, to refer just to corries and cwms. The problem I have is that I annually pass theCirque de Navacelles and thefr:Cirque du Bout de Monde, in Herault which are fluvial cirques in Kaarst landscape while I have many times visited theCirque de Gavarnie which is a classic glacial cwm. The error permeates many articles- and spreads onto commons. Do you have the time, knowledge and inclination to try sort out the mess.

The French link leads to a category giving other fluvial cirques, I really haven't the geology references in English needed to do this myself but will give all assistance. --ClemRutter (talk)23:22, 5 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the input. At least the student is now aware of this group of landforms. I tx'ed a comment over to form an nb. We now have all the problems of the lede not reflecting the article and the usual style stuff to address. But this seems to be a big change for some so I am content to let it move slowly. Wind Turbine Blade with Vortex Generators

[edit]

Williamborg -

Greetings! I am a Wind Energy Enthusiast and I came across your image of the wind turbine blade with vortex generators installed. Would you happen to have more images of that same blade or similar blades you could share? Do you happen to know which type turbine this was installed on?

Response: Don't find any more of those photos - they were taken in Aug 2009, and I've replaced the computer so I can no longer find them (2 computer replacements = 1 fire). Believe is was a Siemens turbine - 2.3MW SWT-2.3 series - but am not sure. The photos of those Siemens units on the web do not include a closeup image to confirm the vortex technology.

Also where and when was this image taken? The date and time says Aug 2009 is that correct?

Response: As I recall, that was in the rail yard at the Port of Pasco, Washington state. The date is correct. A number of them arrived by rail and were being transshipped to truck for installation in the Horse Heaven Hills.

April 2018 Milhist Backlog Drive

[edit]

G'day all, please be advised that throughout April 2018 theMilitary history Wikiproject is running its annual backlog elimination drive. This will focus on several key areas:

  • tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
  • adding or improving listed resources on Milhist's task force pages
  • updating the open tasks template on Milhist's task force pages
  • creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various lists of missing articles.

As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.

The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the scope of military history will be considered eligible. This year, the Military history project would like to extend a specific welcome to members ofWikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red, and we would like to encourage all participants to consider working on helping to improve our coverage of women in the military. This is not the sole focus of the edit-a-thon, though, and there are aspects that hopefully will appeal to pretty much everyone.

The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 April and runs until 23:59 UTC on 30 April 2018. Those interested in participating can sign uphere.

Speedy deletion nomination ofCategory:Fjords of Troms

[edit]

A tag has been placed onCategory:Fjords of Troms requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done undersection C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not adisambiguation category, acategory redirect, afeatured topics category, under discussion atCategories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you maycontest the nomination byvisiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line withWikipedia's policies and guidelines.LizRead!Talk!17:07, 2 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Here's my response, ten years later. "So yes, nuclear plants don't meltdown when they loses all power. So yes, they are designed to not need forced cooling. There's no RHR when there's no power. So no need to reference RHR. If you are around, we can discuss."Gilawson (talk)16:54, 27 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
