it crossed my mind - when I translated most ofUnita Blackwell - that she might also be good for FA, - what do you think? If yes, do you have plans for a FAC, or could you nominate it. the author left Wikipedia, but that's not a reason to not have a worthy topic.Viva-Verdi died, and nonetheless,Falstaff was made a FA to honour him, and when Brian died, there was also an unfinished article that a team brought to FA honours. I might try that forNabucco. Right now, I have a FAC that will take a while, so need help ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk)16:00, 1 April 2022 (UTC)

congrats to TFA 7 May! - I listened to the theme music with the surprising end now, - did you listen toPrayer for Ukraine? - Idecorated with the image which not only illustrates journalist workand two people mentioned but stands for a period which brought East and West together. I began marking DYK positions on my talk, in case you want to help me with that goal of all 8 positions. I have already 3 5 7 in April, so why two more 3 in a row ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk)22:31, 10 April 2022 (UTC)
Weird request: could you please move one of my DYK to a set for 13 April 'cause I have the TFA and this barnstar in mind?Christian Herwartz preferred, for the peace prayers. --Gerda Arendt (talk)17:41, 11 April 2022 (UTC)
That worked well! TFA DYK and 2 ITN which could grow to 3. - Mixed comments on preps, following pings and other: Easter (17 April) is the Western Christians' highest holiday, and I think the butterfly (now in for 16 Apr) would be a nicer image than something black-and-white Chinese. I doubt very much that we need to introduce the invasion in any hook appearingnow! We could link "the war". Who cares about context in the archives for Male Fantasy? Congrats to the stats of that one! And does the war have to be on Easter (even if the Orthodox Easter is on a different date)? I have now two hooks in one set on 15 April, and the Ukrainian victims come in dense succession. --Gerda Arendt (talk)10:20, 13 April 2022 (UTC)

Hi TLC, I have been the initial reviewer of the Death to Arabs DYK but I do not really feel that I deserve the credit of the review as it caused some discussion and many reviewers were involved in finding the right hook. Do you have a solution for this? Is there some sort of a pool to which such reviews can be added?Paradise Chronicle (talk)21:49, 28 April 2022 (UTC)
You are such anaughtygirl. I might be getting a little old but if I’m seeing this correctly it showsTamzin has 75% support which in the very least should warrant a crat-chat, regardless of the outcome Tamzin has made history with over 300 editors supporting. she’d be the third person in the history of the English Wikipedia to achieve that feat, which is indicative of the love the project has for her. In my head and the heads of many others, whatever the result may be, she would forever be a sysop to me & two third of the entire project. RFA's are so toxic, even more vexing is some current sysops or legacy admins do not even possess the same proficiency, good judgment and temperament she possesses RFA has undergone some reforms but it clearly isn’t working, we all complain about the atrophy of RFA and that no one wants to step and volunteer to serve, but when geniuses such as Tamzin & yourself step forward, you get pilloried over almost every things, sometimes potential admins get pilloried over comments they made years back or even more trifling some oppose because of the age of the editor as age. it’s a shame how the project treats editors who just want to serve. This sort of behavior from the community may just make me quit Wikipedia altogether.Celestina007 (talk)14:47, 2 May 2022 (UTC)

The second round of the 2022 WikiCup has now finished. It was a high-scoring round and contestants needed 115 points to advance to round 3. There were some very impressive efforts in round 2, with the top seven contestants all scoring more than 500 points. A large number of the points came from the 11 featured articles and the 79 good articles achieved in total by contestants.
Our top scorers in round 2 were:
The rules for featured and good article reviews require the review to be of sufficient length; brief quick fails and very short reviews will generally not be awarded points. Remember also that DYKs cannot be claimed until they have appeared on the main page. As we enter the third round, any content promoted after the end of round 2 but before the start of round 3 can be claimed now, and anything you forgot to claim in round 2 cannot! Remember too, that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them. When doing GARs, please make sure that you check that all the GA criteria are fully met.
If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article nominations, a featured process, or anything else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it onWikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed (remember to remove your listing when no longer required). Questions are welcome onWikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! Hey, do you want to put your signature somewhere in your post atWikipedia:Village_pump_(policy)#WP:NSONG_and_covers? Lots of text with no sig or timestamp to let other editors know who's proposing or when it opened. Thanks!Schazjmd (talk)23:33, 4 May 2022 (UTC)
Hi leeky, actually IndentBot is approved and already checks DYK nomination pages. But based on feedback it now avoids making visual changes to indentation/discussion lists. Its edits are mainly for screen readers. So if you're referring to visually messed up indentation, I'm afraid it won't be of much help. If you can link an example or two of what kind of indents you're encountering, I can confirm this for you.Notacardoor (talk)08:50, 5 May 2022 (UTC)
*, **, ::*, ****, ::::* should actually be*, **, ***, ****, *****, which is what the bot would change it to. The general rule is to use the same indentation characters as the preceding line, and add the indentation character you want if you're indenting further.Notacardoor (talk)09:01, 5 May 2022 (UTC)

The articleClaudia Riner you nominated as agood article has been placed on hold
. The article is close to meeting thegood article criteria, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needing to be addressed. If these are fixed within 7 days, the article will pass; otherwise it may fail. SeeTalk:Claudia Riner for issues which need to be addressed.Message delivered byLegobot, on behalf ofKavyansh.Singh --Kavyansh.Singh (talk)06:41, 7 May 2022 (UTC)
The articleClaudia Riner you nominated as agood article has passed
; seeTalk:Claudia Riner for comments about the article. Well done! If the article has not already appeared on the main page as a "Did you know" item, or as abold link under "In the News" or in the "On This Day" prose section, you cannominate it within the next seven days to appear in DYK. Bolded names with dates listed at the bottom of the "On This Day" column do not affect DYK eligibility.Message delivered byLegobot, on behalf ofKavyansh.Singh --Kavyansh.Singh (talk)06:21, 9 May 2022 (UTC)
Regarding your comment atTemplate:Did you know nominations/1982 World's Fair, I might say that some editors always develop significant expansions in their user space. Some bring articles all the way to GAN that way.Schwede6610:34, 13 May 2022 (UTC)
Following on from my confusion at WT:DYK, I was looking fromWikipedia:List of users by number of DYK promotions and clicking the "this link". What seems to be the issue here is that the backslashes are carried through, and it searches only in the mainspace instead of also looking at template space. Do you get a different result when you click that link? Best,CMD (talk)11:58, 13 May 2022 (UTC)

Do you know of any serious discussions about two QPQs being required to help clear the DYK backlog? There are currently 78 approved nominations and 281 unapproved nominations - a gap of 203 nominations.SL93 (talk)06:21, 19 May 2022 (UTC)

Hello Theleekycauldron/Archive/2022,
At the time of the last newsletter (No.26, September 2021), the backlog was 'only' just over 6,000 articles. In the past six months, the backlog has reached nearly 16,000, a staggering level not seen in several years. A very small number of users had been doing the vast majority of the reviews. Due to "burn-out", we have recently lost most of this effort. Furthermore, several reviewers have been stripped of the user right for abuse of privilege and the articles they patrolled were put back in the queue.
Several discussions on the state of the process have taken place on thetalk page, but there has been no action to make any changes. The project also lacks coordination since the "position" is vacant.
In the last 30 days, only100 reviewers have made more than 8 patrols and only 50 have averaged one review a day. There are currently869 New Page Reviewers, but about a third have not had any activity in the past month. All 829 administrators have this permission, but only about a dozen significantly contribute to NPP.
This means we have an active pool of about 450 to address the backlog. We cannot rely on a few to do most of the work as that inevitably leads to burnout. A fairly experienced reviewer can usually do a review in a few minutes. If every active reviewer would patrol just one article per day, the backlog would very quickly disappear.
If you have noticed a user with agood understanding of Wikipedia notability and deletion, do suggest they help the effort by placing{{subst:NPR invite}}
on their talk page.
If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. This will enable NPP to have a better overview of its performance and what improvements need to be made to the process and its software.
To opt-out of future mailings, please remove yourselfhere.

Template:Did you know nominations/Wings over Kabul: The First Airlift is approved, but I keep on skipping over it because the hook is uncited. The reviewer approved it and said that the hook about the non-fiction book doesn't need to be directly cited due to being from in the book. I was wondering if you had any thoughts on it.SL93 (talk)22:54, 23 May 2022 (UTC)

On25 May 2022,Did you know was updated with a fact from the articleClaudia Riner, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was... thatClaudia Riner was falsely accused of distributinglesbian erotica in the Kentucky House of Representatives? The nomination discussion and review may be seen atTemplate:Did you know nominations/Claudia Riner. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page(here's how,Claudia Riner), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added tothe statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on theDid you know talk page.
