Disambiguation link notification for September 10

[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently editedGukurahundi, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation pageNdebele (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links areusually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles.(Read theFAQ • Join us at theDPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow theseopt-out instructions. Thanks,DPL bot (talk)07:48, 10 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, that's very kind of you. --The Huhsz (talk)18:30, 30 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
On reflection, I don't think I want to be involved with a group which endorses the current poor state of our article onIndia. A "copy-editor" who misses basic grammatical and spelling errors probably isn't really worth having, and unfortunately your "guild" in this instance is being used to justify impeding improvement. Good luck with your endeavours in any case. --The Huhsz (talk)06:44, 3 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Zeppelins

[edit]

Good luck with any attempt to overhaul the Zeppelin articles; there is virtually nothing of any worth published in English. I had a go at expanding some of them but run up against this lack of reliable sources.TheLongTone (talk)14:23, 7 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I actually found a few decent sources when I wsa researching theGraf Zeppelin article. And of course, almost any source is better than no source. A lot of these articles read like they were written by hobbyists, based on their personal knowledge, which is sometimes inaccurate or wrong. --The Huhsz (talk)16:13, 7 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Oh dear. I'll have a look again; I had a bit of a go a while back but obviously have not doen well enough.TheLongTone (talk)15:43, 9 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Well, there is no deadline. --The Huhsz (talk)20:38, 9 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Here are some of the sources I found and used for theGraf Zeppelin article. Most are accessible online, to a greater or lesser extent. --The Huhsz (talk)23:15, 9 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks...I see that you havn't listed either the Peter Brooke Putnam book on Zeppelins (which I want but am reluctant to pay 50 gbp for) or Eckener's autobiog, which I would say is essential reading. I've read most of the others; imo the recent ones are merely rehashing the material to be found in ealier sources.TheLongTone (talk)12:49, 11 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try to get a hold of them. I don't think my budget can extend to £50 either. --The Huhsz (talk)07:12, 12 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Eckener's autiobiog is called My Zeppelins; I've just done a search on abebooks and even a used softback reprint is over thirty bucks; copies of the hardback original are even more expensive. Sigh. I am fortunate in having an excellent library with an extensive aerospace collection, due to the local connections with the industry.— Precedingunsigned comment added byTheLongTone (talkcontribs)
Yes, this might be my chance to rediscover my local library. --The Huhsz (talk)18:10, 12 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Somebody who read this thread kindly uploaded the Peter Brook book... here is a link[1]
Wow, thank you! --The Huhsz (talk)12:41, 13 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Sunday Herald front cover 4 May 2014 by Alasdair Gray.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploadingFile:Sunday Herald front cover 4 May 2014 by Alasdair Gray.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required byWikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available fromWikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as animage copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance withsection F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at themedia copyright questions page. Thank you.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to thepage history of each individual file for details. Thanks,FastilyBot (talk)01:00, 11 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, FastilyBot. I've contested the proposed deletion, and refined my rationale as per your request. --The Huhsz (talk)01:58, 11 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Something the article might gain from could be a bit more discussion about the distinctive characteristics of Gray's visual work, including the characteristics of his published graphic design. This might tip the case for keeping the image, which IMO is rather a good representative of the style of his work in this area.Jheald (talk)19:25, 11 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks I will see what I can do. I have already added a few good web sources and a book. Maybe there's more. The Huhsz (talk)20:25, 11 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I was reading over theAlasdair Gray article and the work ye've done on it has been brilliant.
