I just wanted to point out a few things about your last edit on the Sri Lankan civil war:
- first of you, typed <br in the infobox so you have broken the article in that place. Will you please correct that because I am not a registered user and can not edit a protected article
- second, you typed the number of Tigers killed after 2006, it should sayafter 2007 not 2006, will you please correct that as well, thank you
- third, why did you remove the sourced (referenced) number of overall 80,000 dead from the infobox? An overall number of killed in the war should be put in the infobox even if that other user reasond there is no need because it is alreadymentioned according to him. So will you please, reinsert that, thank you
- and fourth, you are asking about the 2,685 number, six sources have been given, which you have removed now (which I think you shouldn't have done), when you sum up the numbers of dead in those sources you get 2,685, now please don't yell at me about that Original Research violation, this number based on these numbers was agreed upon among myself user Watchdogb and several other editors more than six months ago, but if you still won't reinsert the 2,695 number that I ask you to please at least reinsert the reference (you deleted) which says that more than 2,500 have been killed since the start of last year (I don't know how you missed it since you said you read all of the references, the reference is[1]) and if you are still open for compromise over the references put 2,600 instead of 2,500 with the addition of this one more referenceSrilanka Assessment 2007 which states the individual numbers of dead for the years of 2002 through 2005 (which is exactly 100), hope you make these edits.
In case it will pass several days for you to get this message I will post a message on the discussion page of the article to make a request to make these edits, hope you won't revert them before discussing. Thanks, cheers, and Happy New Year since it's coming up. Bye.89.216.235.147 (talk)01:29, 23 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I just noticed that tamilnet is being used as a reference for the number of SLA casualtieshere. Is this accepted as a reliable source? I was under the impression that information like this are not sourced from websites directly related to the parties invloved since they are bound to be biased, aren't they?Chamaltalk01:59, 23 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hi snowolf,
I started the whole thread because I myself would not know how to qualify LD in the schema of classes of sources. If you just say "use pro-government" or "anti-government" or any other qualification, that would probably be OK. I found the website quite informative (while it was there), and less clearly biased than some other Lankan publications, but that is of course my personal impression. I suppose that wikipedians with a more thorough knowledge of the Sri Lankan society can detect the biases more easily, which is what I was asking for. I am just trying to understand parts of the Sri Lankan political landscape. So, LD is close to SLFP-M, which is kind of against Rajapaksa, probably also against LTTE, and also against UNP? I must say that I find the frequent reorganizations of Sri Lankan parties very confusing... To cut it short, could you just reply what you believe the political goals of LD are/were? Thank you.Jasy jatere (talk)00:12, 16 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the good work with the commander list. One thing to point out is, 'in control of majority area' is a better term rather than 'driven out'. For example see [this] and [this]. -Iross1000 (talk)21:44, 23 January 2009 (UTC).[reply]
I am sure you know about the definitions ofWP:MINOR, and you agree that [edit] does not fall under this definition. Im afraid what you think can be considered as POV. If we dont back these trivial facts with refs how can we remove controversial claims by other that are trying to put them on this page. I am reverting them. Time was given since the cites were requested and removal. If you think these are accurate I see no problem in you readding them, if you could add them with refs. And another issue I see in this article is that most of the sources arepartisan sources, we should find more independent ones. Please dont forget we should make a article that is encyclopedic and would be taken seriously. CheersCossde (talk)05:51, 28 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (seeour policy for non-free media).

There is currently a discussion taking place on the LTTE talk page which could profit from a pro-SL point of view. I suspect you are busy in RL, but leaving the talk page to one pro-LTTE person and two "neutrals" (as far as neutrality exists, that is) does not seem a good course of affairs either. So, please drop by if you find the timeJasy jatere (talk)12:51, 11 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello machan how have you been? I have also told him to explain his edits on the talk page before he edits the article, and it is turning into a edit war. Could you please tell this person to stop his vandalism and follow the proper wikipedia protocaol. ThanksBlackknight12 (talk)06:39, 28 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop removing TamilNet citations. According toWP:SLR TN is a Qualified Source "which fulfillsWP:RS".
There have been a number of attempts (which you have taken part in) to classify TN as an unreliable source (Wikipedia talk:Identifying_reliable sources/Archive 14#What kind of a source is Tamilnet?,Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/IncidentArchive255#Removal of RS sources,Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/IncidentArchive264#Allegations of state terrorism in Sri_Lanka. Each attempt has failed as neutral editors have concluded that TN is aWP:RS.
You may not like TN nor want it mentioned in a prominent article. That does not give you a right to remove TN citations unilaterally without any discussion or courtesy for other editors.--obi2canibetalkcontr21:59, 21 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for correcting, me . I am new to wiki myself. But its clearly not neutral to call a democratic organization as 'remnants of LTTE' . Its op sided GOSL analysis, substantiated with what ? Indian media. The article is about PTGTE and not LTTE. Please remember that. Anyhow the first para does mention that The PTGTE has been called a "ploy to perpetuate terrorism" by the government of Sri Lanka.
None of my edits removed that . Lets leave it at that.—Precedingunsigned comment added byTruthtriumph (talk •contribs)07:36, 26 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you toreview other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing atwo-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are notautoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to onlya small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located atSpecial:OldReviewedPages.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obviousvandalism orBLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (seeWikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be foundhere.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time.Courcelles (talk)17:53, 19 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the encouragement. Yes, she is the 43rd, this was verified by her personally. Also, I would upload more info and images as and when they become available.
The information I entered earlier was edited/deleted stating copywrite infringement with www.supremecourt.lk. However, the information on the site in question was provided by me to the admin. They have taken it from the Wikipedia page. I mentioned this in a reedit I did today. I would be grateful if you could undo any deletion of such mass chunks of information. Hi. TheWikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/IrelandWikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge andWikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much likeWikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the currentWikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa.02:59, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

With your support, we hope to organize cross-project content improvement drives as part of online projects, as well as organize in-person edit-a-thons, training sessions, photowalks, and other such activities, in the near future. The ultimate goal(s) of these initiatives is to improve the overall coverage and quality of topics relating to Sri Lanka, as well as encourage new editors to join the Wikimedia community, while simultaneously empowering and retaining our existing team of editors. There are no mandatory obligations for members who choose join the community, other than the usual editing rules for online projects, and thefriendly space policy for in-person projects. You may also (or instead) subscribe to the mailing list, where any member could initiate discussions with volunteers across projects, notify members of events and meetings, stay up to date with competitions, organize your own events, and so on. See you on board, and Happy Editing! | |

Thanks for uploadingFile:Kumaran Pathmanadan.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim offair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails thefirst non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may haveno free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:
{{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}}below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing<your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking onthis link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per thenon-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at theMedia copyright questions page. Thank you. --Marchjuly (talk)05:45, 22 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
