Question fromJMajor14 (09:05, 3 July 2025)

[edit]

On the2025 New York City mayoral election page, there is thisUser:24Winnetka that is constantly changing the infobox, candidates sub-section, and any listing of candidates forAndrew Cuomo to be first, and callingZohran Mamdani a socialist, both of which violate many Wikipedia rules. I've tried reporting it on the talk page, and no one is responded. It's getting out of hand, that someone will have to undo their changes multiple times a day. Is there anything more i can do? You can check the changes he has made which have constantly been reverted here:https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=2025_New_York_City_mayoral_election&action=history --JMajor14 (talk)09:05, 3 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Subject Line: Proposed Edit Regarding Labubu’s Cultural Impact

Hi Mentor,I’d like to suggest a minor addition about Labubu’s cultural impact in 2025. A detailed article from a current events site discusses the toy’s viral success and compares it to the cultural disruption of icons like Rihanna and Billie Eilish.

I understand COI rules, so I’m not editing the article directly. Here’s the suggested citation for review:

"Labubu Doll: Viral Toy with a Dark Twist" – WorldStageToday.com[1]

Please let me know if it’s suitable or if it needs changes. Thanks! --Danishabro1989 (talk)22:58, 8 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Administrator Elections | Call for Candidates

[edit]
Administrator Elections |Call for Candidates

The administrator elections process has officially started! Interested editors are encouraged to self-nominate or arrange to be nominated by reviewing the instructions atWikipedia:Administrator elections/July 2025/Candidates.

Here is the schedule:

  • July 9–15 - Call for candidates
  • July 18–22 - Discussion phase
  • July 23–29 - SecurePoll voting phase

Please note the following:

  • The requirements to run are identical toRFA—a prospective candidate must beextended confirmed.
  • Prospective candidates are advised to become familiar with the community's expectations of administrators, which are much higher than the minimum requirement of having extended confirmed status. This includes reviewingsuccessful andunsuccessful RFAs, reading the essayWikipedia:Advice for RfA candidates, and possibly requesting anoptional poll on their chances of passing.
  • The process will have a seven day call for candidates phase, a two day pause, a five day discussion phase, and a seven day private vote using SecurePoll. Discussion and questions are only allowed on the candidate pages during the discussion phase.
  • The outcome of this process is identical to making a request for adminship. There isno official difference between an administrator appointed through RFA versus administrator elections.
  • Administrator elections are also avalid means of regaining adminship for de-sysopped editors.

Ask any questions about the process at thetalk page. A separate user talk message will be sent to official candidates with additional information about the process.

If you are interested in the process, please make sure to watchlist the appropriate pages. A watchlist notice will be added when the discussion phase opens, and again when the voting phase opens.

Question fromSharkJumperNYC onAtomoxetine (11:04, 9 July 2025)

[edit]

Hey Pickersgill, I noticed that the first line of this article wrongly said that aromoextine was “formerly” known as Strattera. The source is a press release from Eli Lilly Canada, which suggests it is only being phased out in the Canadian market. I am striking the word “formerly” and would like to remove the footnote, but when I try to do so in the mobile editor, a help panel pops up that suggests contacting you. Maybe because I’m a noob editor? --SharkJumperNYC (talk)11:04, 9 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@SharkJumperNYC: Hi, I'm not that familiar with the hints given to new users, but there shouldn't be anything stopping you from editing an article that isn't protected, as is the case with this one. We encourage editors to bebold, so please go ahead with changes like that, just ensure that you write your rationale in the edit summary.Pickersgill-Cunliffe (talk)16:57, 15 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Pickersgill-Cunliffe, I have a quick question, why our my articles always getting flagged for deletion? they aren't advertising at all and when I contest it it fails. --Stormchaseronlinux (talk)10:10, 11 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

While I encourage you to speak directly to the editors who put the articles forward for deletion, generally they're being deleted because you're not producing an encyclopaedic article, you're producing a list of features without much context. This reads essentially as an advertisement. I suggest you have a look at existing articles on schools and cars, of which we have many, to get an idea of the style and referencing we look for.Pickersgill-Cunliffe (talk)17:01, 15 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Administrator Elections | Discussion phase

[edit]
Administrator Elections |Discussion phase

The discussion phase of the July 2025 administrator elections is officially open. As a reminder, the schedule of the election is:

We are currently in the discussion phase. The candidate subpages are open to questions and comments from everyone, in the same style as arequest for adminship. You may discuss the candidates atWikipedia:Administrator elections/July 2025/Discussion phase.

On July 23, we will start the voting phase. The candidate subpages will close again to public questions and discussion, and everyone will have a week to use theSecurePoll software to vote, which uses asecret ballot. You can see who voted, but not who they voted for. Please note that the vote totals cannot be made public until after voting has ended and as such, it will not be possible for you to see an individual candidate's totals during the election. You must beextended confirmed to vote.

Once voting concludes, we will begin the scrutineering phase, which will last approximately four days, or perhaps a little longer. Once everything is certified, the results will be posted on theresults page (you may want to watchlist this page) and transcluded to themain election page. In order to be granted adminship, a candidate must have received at least 70.0% support, calculated as Support / (Support + Oppose), and must also have received a minimum of 20 support votes. Because this is a vote and not a consensus, there are nobureaucrat discussions ("crat chats").

Any questions or issues can be asked on theelection talk page. Thank you for your participation. Happy electing.

Thank you today forHenry de Hinuber, "about a Hanoverian army officer. Having offered his services to Britain when Hanover was invaded during the Napoleonic Wars in 1803, he spent the next decade commanding a regiment of the King's German Legion. In 1813 he was given command of a KGL brigade fighting in the Peninsular War, serving there until the end of the conflict and conducting a strained relationship with the Duke of Wellington. When Napoleon escaped from his exile Hinuber was prepared to command the division he was at the time leading, but he was superseded. Somewhat understandably frustrated by this, he refused any other commands and missed Waterloo. With the end of the war he joined the reconstituted Hanoverian Army, serving until his death in 1833. A fluent speaker of English and French, he anglicized his name from Eduard Christoph Heinrich von Hinüber."! --Gerda Arendt (talk)08:15, 18 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question fromDuncanA77 (11:43, 22 July 2025)

[edit]

Hello, as my mentor can I get some advice? I drafted an articlehttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Ourea_Events about Ourea Events, a UK company that organises ultra running events. It got rejected first time for insufficient notable info (fine). I added more detail, and it got rejected again with comment "The sources added are more about the specific events themselves, rather than Ourea itself. Not seeing much indication of Ourea specifically being notable." Which is probably fair, and honestly maybe there isn't enough notable detail about Ourea specifically. So I was then wondering whether it would be more appropriate as an article "Races organised by Ourea Events" (with some minor edits) and if that would be more likely to be accepted as an article for creation. Any thoughts? --DuncanA77 (talk)11:43, 22 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hello,

My name is Thomas Newson, and I would like to request a correction to the information currently listed on my Wikipedia page. The information is outdated and no longer reflects my current artistic direction. Despite previous attempts to update it, the page often reverts to older content that inaccurately associates me with a sound and style from over a decade ago.

In 2020, I made a significant switch in my musical direction, and I believe it is important that the article reflects this change accurately, as it directly affects how I am perceived in the industry.

I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss what can be done to ensure the information is current, accurate, and supported by reliable sources.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Question fromYeehai9527 (09:50, 14 August 2025)

[edit]

Hi! I just got started as a Wikipedia editor and I'm having trouble distinguishing whether or not a reference is reliable and qualified. An article that I have been working on keeps getting declined because of this. I have looked up Wikipedia's guideline thoroughly, but the definitions are somewhat vague and some even conflict with several references in actual articles. So it would be really nice if you could give me a more detailed review of the article or just point out the exact reference that's unqualified in my article. That would help me a lot on improving my editing. Thanks! The article that I'm working on: Draft:Unilumin. --Yeehai9527 (talk)09:50, 14 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, unfortunately I'm not able to be around much right now. You should look to engage directly with the people reviewing the article - I promise they won't bite!Pickersgill-Cunliffe (talk)21:12, 3 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question fromWealthMapper (16:23, 18 August 2025)

[edit]

Hi! I recently had a page I was working on deleted. I may have misunderstood something, as I thought that I could create a page and then "officially" submit it for review from Wikipedia experts to get feedback. I was still working on the page and had not submitted it for review yet. One of the reasons noted was that I had not declared my status, but I did that on my User page a couple of weeks ago. I'm not sure where I took a misstep; can you please offer me some guidance? Thank you! --WealthMapper (talk)16:23, 18 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, your best bet is to engage directly with the person involved in the deletion. If you discuss it as calmly as you have here, you shouldn't have any problems obtaining an explanation.Pickersgill-Cunliffe (talk)21:08, 3 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, That is the first thing I did--reach out to them to understand where I went wrong in the process. They deleted the page on August 16th, and I responded on August 18th. It is now Sept 6. Is it normal to take that long to get a response? I'm worried my next draft will get deleted before I officially submit it for review. Any advice?WealthMapper (talk)23:05, 6 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again. The person has not responded to my question. I want to start another draft, but I don't want it to get deleted. I didn't save my last draft as I thought it had to go through a review process. How do I create a draft in Wikipedia and not have it deleted before I submit it for review? The directions make it seem like you create the draft, then submit for review. But since my draft was deleted that process was interrupted. How do I avoid that from happening again while making my draft?WealthMapper (talk)22:43, 18 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question fromSLUH ATL (20:34, 28 August 2025)

[edit]

hi, how can i contribute a new entry? There is no page for the AAAS Science & Technology fellowship (https://www.aaas.org/programs/science-technology-policy-fellowships) that the recent CDC director, Susan Monarez, is an alumna of. --SLUH ATL (talk)20:34, 28 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @SLUH ATL! You can find information about this atWP:Your first article. Your very first step will be to assess if the topic meets Wikipedia'sinclusion criteria. In this case, that would mean finding a few reliable sources independent of the fellowship that discuss the fellowship in some depth.—Femke 🐦 (talk)06:58, 31 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

can i add refrence from external sites --Rehan Manzoor (talk)22:14, 30 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Rehan Manzoor. Yes, you can! If you use the Visual Editor (editing looks a bit like editing in Word), there is a cite button. You can fill out the url you want to cite, and the citation is automatically formed. Don't forget to click insert.
If you want to link to external websites as an external link: make sure that you only add those in an external links section at the end of an article, as Wikipedia doesn't use any external links in its prose.—Femke 🐦 (talk)06:47, 31 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

User:Dumelow/List of generals of the British Empire who died during the Second World War

[edit]

Hi, just a note that I've started listing out the entries on the above (just the 30-odd major generals left to do), if you were interested in helping out (no worries if not). There'll be a bit of work finding death cause and places, where possible. I'd like to do the admirals and air officers at some point too -Dumelow (talk)06:56, 5 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, apologies. Just saw the note on your user page, very sad to hear that. Enjoy your wikibreak and I hope you are feeling better soon -Dumelow (talk)06:58, 5 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Dumelow: Hi! Hope you're well. Very happy to assist with the list, and I see you've nommed the admirals one for FL. I'm looking to ease myself back in to editing (probably rather slowly), so do let me know if there's anything I can help with.Pickersgill-Cunliffe (talk)14:13, 10 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Glad to see you back but do take it easy! The admirals one is my first FLC so a few things to get the hang of but hopefully it will pass (I think renaming it to ".... admirals ..." will resolve some of the more significant issues raised about inclusion criteria). I'm mostly looking at GANs this month as there is a backlog drive on and next month we're looking to reduce some of the MILHIST article quality backlogs ([Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/November 2025 Article Improvement Drive]]) but would be good to do some content creation in between so might start looking at the WWII generals list again. All the best -Dumelow (talk)15:46, 10 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Dumelow: I've made a start on gap filling with the admirals list. Have tried and failed to find free images for Hocken, Tench, and Marescaux. Tench is the last missing a cause of death. I'll try and dip into the SWW generals soon, and have started a newhighly ambitious list of my own! Lots to do...Pickersgill-Cunliffe (talk)18:54, 16 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Arbitration

  • Aftera motion, arbitration enforcement page protections no longer need to be logged in the AELOG. A bot now automatically posts protections atWP:AELOG/P. To facilitate this bot, protection summaries must include a link to the relevant CT page (e.g.[[WP:CT/BLP]]), and you will receive talk page reminders if you forget to specify the contentious topic but otherwise indicate it is an AE action.
