Regarding the Teahouse

[edit]

@Kingsacrificer Hi there, hope you're well. I noticed you've been editing quite actively at theTeahouse attempting to answer other people's questions. While it's great you are enthusiastic about editing and want to help others, which is exactly the kind of mentality Wikipedia needs, I would suggest getting to know policies and how things work around here before answering questions at the Teahouse. By no means is this message meant to discourage you from editing, however if you are more familiar with our policies it means you can offer users better responses and more helpful feedback. Cheers.Rambley(talk /contribs)09:07, 11 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Rambley,
Thanks for reaching out on my talkpage.
Yes, I realised myself that I wasn't well-equipped to answer questions on Teahouse, when it was pointed out by an OP that WP allows 'fair use' while Commons doesn't.
I will be more measured and judicious in the future. Cheers!Kingsacrificer (talk)09:26, 11 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

FPC

[edit]

Hi there. Please read the FPC guidelines and you will understand my whale nomination.Charlesjsharp (talk)19:01, 14 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Charlesjsharp
I am looking through theFPC Formal guidelines as well as theImage Guidelines, and I legit cannot find anything related to single or multiple nominations that would be relevant here. In fact, I cannot find anything that proves my own point. I am new here so I'm sure I have messed up, I apologise.
If you want, I can remove my comment from the nomination.Kingsacrificer (talk)07:28, 15 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. The process is that youremove the comment like this.
If you wish to challenge the legitimacy of a nomination from a regular nominator, you can always ping them on their talk page.Charlesjsharp (talk)08:15, 15 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Pentrebach, Swansea

[edit]

I removed your speedy fromPentrebach, Swansea. Speedy criterion A7 doesn't apply to pages.LeapTorchGear (talk)13:17, 19 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies for missing out on a guideline.
Should I apply it to 'Proposed Deletion' then?Kingsacrificer (talk)16:19, 19 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Kingsacrificer: No, you should add the text from the Welsh-language article on the community atcy:Pentre-bach, Abertawe orhttps://cy.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pentre-bach,_Abertawe to the article., as well as any other relevant references that you can find. Once you have done that, notability should be clearly established.LeapTorchGear (talk)23:22, 19 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, Kingsacrificer,
You have only been editing for a week, it is too soon for you to start tagging pages for deletion. Admin tasks require a thorough knowledge of policy and guidelines. Do you know all of the CSD criteria? Once you do, you can consider getting more involved in administrative tasks. As for now, please work on improving content and some of our 7 million articles rather than setting yourself up as a judge of what should and shouldn't be deleted on the project. You can easily get in way over your head and find yourself blocked. Happy editing.LizRead!Talk!01:12, 20 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you @Liz and @LeapTorchGear
I will keep your comments in mind. I had read through the criteria guidelines, but may have missed an important point. I'll be careful.Kingsacrificer (talk)08:43, 20 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Your QPQs

[edit]

Welcome to DYK! But a reminder that your QPQs need to be complete as in check the nomination against all of the criteria. See theDYK guidelines for help and try using the{{DYK checklist}}. Your rationales inTemplate:Did you know nominations/Homeopathy Unrefuted andTemplate:Did you know nominations/Denise Stoklos only use one or two of the criteria and are completely vague as to why the criteria are failed; take a look atWP:DYKINT, as well as the essaysUser:Theleekycauldron/Why some hooks are interesting andUser:Theleekycauldron/Tell me something interesting. And please sign your comments.ミラP@Miraclepine01:06, 10 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Miraclepine,
Thank you for reaching out on my Talk page. I was unaware of the entire guidelines and only seeked to make a comment on the nomination, not give a verdict. I'll take care with further nominations. Thank you for sharing the links. And I thought my comments would be autosigned, but apparently not.Kingsacrificer (talk)10:08, 10 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

AI image atPrashant Kishor

[edit]

PerWP:AIBLPIMAGE, we do not use AI generated images on biographies of living people. The imageFile:Prashant Kishor during a press conference on Bihar Assembly elections.jpg is blatantly an AI generated image. Please do not restore this image to that article again. If you have questions, let me know. Thanks, --Hammersoft (talk)20:40, 26 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I asked this on the Commons page as well. How can you confidently say that it is an AI generated image? I'm confused.Kingsacrificer (talk)20:47, 26 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I replied to you on the deletion discussion. It's actually rather easy. --Hammersoft (talk)21:13, 26 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion

[edit]

Hi, you added theWP:PROD template toWebster's Microcomputer Buyer's Guide which @BOZ started. The proposed deletion should only be used for uncontroversial deletes, where you don't expect any opposition to the deletion.WP:N is not such a case because it may be possible to add sources to the article, which I have done now. --Cyfal (talk)07:48, 30 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you @Cyfal. I apologise. I did not expect opposition to the deletes because I searched for sources myself and couldn't find any.
TheNominating section onWP:PROD links us toWP:DEL-REASON which states Notability as a factor. If this is incorrect, I thinkWP:PROD should be modified to include a list of criteria that qualifies a page for proposed deletions instead of AfD.Kingsacrificer (talk)09:00, 30 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
No worries, it is all a learning process here. It is a judgment call on whether PROD or AFD is appropriate. Sometimes PROD is better because other people may do a source search and have more skill in finding sources than the nominator, so the PROD can be easily removed when they do.BOZ (talk)09:42, 30 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
No worries from me, too.WP:DEL-REASON is indead a list criteria for PROD. Missing sources are covered by item 6 and 7. Of course it is nota priori impossible to find sources forWebster's Microcomputer Buyer's Guide, so item 6 does not hold. Thus, it depends on how one interprets the word "thorough" in item 7 whether PROD or AfD is appropriate in case you found no additional sources. --Cyfal (talk)18:34, 30 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction to contentious topics

[edit]

You have recently edited a page related tothe region ofSouth Asia (India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal), broadly construed, including but not limited to history, politics, ethnicity, and social groups, a topic designated ascontentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics anddoesnot imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to ascontentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by theArbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia's norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipediaadministrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should editcarefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

Additionally, you must be logged in, have500 edits, and have an account age of 30 days in order to make edits related to two subtopics: (1) Indian military history, or (2) social groups, explicitly including caste associations and political parties related to India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topicsprocedures, you may ask them at thearbitration clerks' noticeboard or you maylearn more about this contentious topic. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the{{Ctopics/aware}} template.
