Hi. As with every abbreviation there comes a period after etc., and despite what the guardian's internal style guide says, all I can find on Google is that one should use a period after etc. By the way, etc. without a dot is on theWikipedia list of common misspellings as
<Typoword="Etc."find="\b(?:and\s+)?([eE])(?:tc\b(?<!/etc)([^\.\w])|ct\b\.*)"replace="$1tc.$2"/><!--avoid /etc the Unix file directory-->
Hmm, and the dot is so necessary that it should be added to instances of "etc" within other users' signed comments? Conceivably yes it is; but if you could shed some light on the mysteries (or simply my incomprehension) described inDraft talk:Celebrating Matsu, that'd be so much more welcome. --Hoary (talk)07:35, 7 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Killarnee. Thank you for your creation of the page onNordweststadt (Karlsruhe), though seems like a part of the page was translated fromde:Nordweststadt (Karlsruhe). I just wanted to drop a quick note that it is while it's perfectly allowed to reuse content between pages, the licence technically requires attributing the original article. This is usually done with just an edit summary identifying the source wiki, and a link For example:Content in this edit is translated from the existing German Wikipedia article at [[:de:Exact name of French article]]; see its history for attribution. Or, if you are using the Wikipedia:Content translation tool, it will make this edit summary for you automatically. You can also add a{{translated page}} template to the talk page. This file is aderivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such images would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a screenshot of a computer game or movie. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original image must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.
While the file description page states the source and copyright status of the derivative work, it only names the creator of the original work without specifying the status of their copyright over the work.
Wikipedia takescopyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine thelicense and thesource of the original image. If you know this information, then you can add acopyright tag to theimage description page.
If you have uploaded other derivative works, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created inyour upload log.
@Hajoon0102: Where is the image within the image? This image was officially published by Apple for newspapers etc., just read the license I included in the file description. And all the icons on the image are Apple's property only. So your tag doesn't apply here.Killarnee (talk)23:22, 11 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You approved the AfC submissionList of investigational autism and pervasive developmental disorder drugs recently, which is one of many drafts submitted by the prolific IP editor 76.174.0.57. The list is clearly worthwhile but I do note that it has 89 external links in its main sections and only three actual references. Is this appropriate for a list article? It seems to go against the guidance atWP:ELLIST. I'm not sure what to do here and would value your advice. Some of the links may be totally unnecessary, since there are valid wikilinks to existing articles. In other cases, it might be better to convert the EL to cites, and if so I'm open to doing that.Mike Turnbull (talk)13:10, 28 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Mike Turnbull: Just wanted to note this, from the AfC reviewing guidelines:"Avoid declining an article because the references contain bare URLs or other reference formatting problems. Instead, run reFill (and check its output!) or tag the article with {{cleanup-link rot|date=October 2024}} or {{citation style|date=October 2024}}." (quoted fromWP:AFCSTANDARDS). SoKillarnee was following the guidelines in approving the page. In my own case, I had figured that the page could be tagged with a relevant clean-up template or that someone else with the know-how could fill the bare URLs. Thanks. –76.174.0.57 (talk)22:17, 29 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Killarnee: It sounds like this would be better targeted toBoroughs of Karlsruhe. Typically we would expect a mention of the redirect at the target because, if someone is searching for that term, they typically expect to find some relevant information there. Otherwise it may come across as misleading if there's nothing there. I've retargeted it for now and marked it as reviewed. I'll likely be doing the same with a number of other redirects because I do think the boroughs article provides more relevant information.Hey man im josh (talk)14:04, 3 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Well, the articles about the districts of Karlsruhe are mainly stubs and starts, so if the information about whether and if so how the district is further divided is not mentioned there, then the problem is not in the redirect, but it's in the article. I will add the information to the articles and change the redirects back if you're ok with that.
For example,Waldlage andFeldlage are located in Karlsruhe, but are not districts of Karlsruhe, but rather a partially internal and often cultural/historical subdivision of the respective district. I don't know how to describe this in English, it's a German thing (it doesn't even have an English article,w:de:Ortsteil, translates to "part of the district"). Therefore, I don't think directing the redirects to theboroughs of Karlsruhe list is right.Killarnee (talk)22:03, 3 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Hey man im josh: As a sample I added the information to an article that the district is subdivided, seeSpecial:diff/1261033430. What do you think? This is probably too less information for a separate section, so I wrote it in the introduction. I would then do the same with the other districts and revert or adjust the redirects. But I would be happy to hear your feedback first.
I think that makes it a suitable target, but you a raise a good point about overdoing it with info. I liked that boroughs articles as a target because it has relevant info and you could click the parent area, but that's a personal preference. I did mark some redirects as approved when I saw that you had added relevant text to the target, so, at this point, I'd say it's a matter of personal preference. Anyways, thank you for your work with that and the redirects!Hey man im josh (talk)23:23, 5 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
And oh I forgot. I took a picture of one of these road signs, this road sign is forWaldstadt Waldlage, maybe it helps understanding how the district/subdistrict things work, because I find it indeed not easy to understand it myself as it's locally different how these systems work.Killarnee (talk)23:33, 5 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
