Following Nihonjoe's closure link inTalk:2017_Westminster_attack#Use_of_the_noun_"attack"_to_describe_the_event, I was readingWikipedia:Village_pump_(miscellaneous)/Archive_56#Use_of_the_word_"attack"_in_various_article_titles and noticed you mentioned July 11:
Subsequently, I was involved in an August discussion about an issue which falls outside of domestic Islamic terrorism atTalk:2017_Charlottesville_attack#Requested_move_12_August_2017.
Do you know how I might go about re-opening this village pump discussion? Regardless of whatever biasUser:Alfred Nemours had (apparentlya sockpuppet) I think this is a good discussion to have.
I'd always assumedWP:BLPCRIME protections were actually enforced and that any article titled "attack" already had a criminal conviction, but beginning with Fields' case where I happened to read about an alleged attack still undergoing a trial process, I began to realize that this and then other cases mentioned atvehicle-ramming attack have this problem of deferring toWP:COMMONNAME to call something an "attack" instead of deferring to BLP:CRIME and using neutral vocabulary to describe it as a suspected crime prior to a criminal conviction.
So far I was nominating for moves individually for recent cases where I notice people are still alive and still unconvicted, but now I'm wondering if we could just have a collective discussion like this on it somewhere.ScratchMarshall (talk)19:55, 20 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed you reorganized the articleThe King of Fighters '99 and wanted to know for a reason. I don't wanna argue or anything but it just seemed weird to put the sales in the release section of game considering how the manual of style or FA tends to organize sales. Also, do you think the Battle de Paradise information could be moved to gameplay since it's a console gameplay similar to the edit and challenge modes fromXI. Since this is a GAN, I want to know your opinion about it. Nevertheless, thanks for the editing. Cheers.Tintor2 (talk)23:32, 15 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Made a brief rearrange in regards to how the game can be connected to another KOF game. By the way, once this article is reviewed, can you check the review alongside? I don't consider myself an expert. Cheers.Tintor2 (talk)23:55, 16 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Most articles include as many Japanese review scores as they can for completeness, as we should aim to get as much of an international perspective, and to balance between retrospective and contemporary reviews. But most of the time we just have the numbers, but even with just the score it still has a lot of value. If you check, most GA or FA articles will include the Famitsu review scores. Examples:Parasite_Eve_(video_game),Super Mario World,Clock_Tower_(1995_video_game),Sweet_Home_(video_game), etc.
Later on, we should try to expand to include the actual content of the reviews. People have just started scanning old Weekly Famitsu pages, and we have maybe 20 of them scanned.
As for checking the review, I'm no expert and I'm pretty hazy on a lot of the details of GA or FA guidelines.Harizotoh9 (talk)00:26, 17 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I actually own the Nostalgic Famicom Perfect Guide, so I was able to just read the book directly, so those sections weren't really translation. Also, I'm uncertain about how to format refs for some of the books. Nostalgic Perfect Guide is all English loan words spelled out in Japanese, so it's easy to translate. For the other JP books, they are proper Japanese words, so I just left them written in Japanese.Harizotoh9 (talk)18:53, 11 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If an academic has made significant contributions to their field, then surely third party sources should have mentioned it right?Um, no - people don't write about notable academics - instead, they cite their work. That's the whole point of having the subject-specific guideline - so that we can cover serious topics, instead of just writing about celebrities and sport stars. So that we cover people who make actual, important contributions, even if they don't catch the attention of gossip columnists. Hi Harizotoh,
I sent this message to Ravensfire and wanted to send the same to you. I would like to work in good faith on this article, if you do not have the time then I would prefer to work with those who do have time.
I find it troubling that information that is relevant and reliably sourced (i.e. perjury conviction; major media companies admitting to doctoring videos of Jung; and other) are not being added to the page because in the opinion of a few editors that it paints the subject in a more positive light.
Additionally, several sources are currently being used with information that was later retracted by media companies, as well as sources that are sensational/not reliable.
I understand the subject matter sensitive, but that is why I believe it is important to get it right. How do you propose we address these concerns on the page? My thought is that we should delete all controversial or improperly sourced material until information can be properly vetted.
I would like to work with you in good faith on these issues, any help would be much appreciated.
If not, perhaps there are other admins that would be able to assist.

Hi there! :) I remembered the work you put intoBoxer's Road, and I see that you seem to have some knowledge of Japanese games in general. You may be aware that I am working my way through Next Generation magazine, which I am sure you are aware seems to have covered Japanese games more than any other US publication did. So it is not uncommon for me to find games that appear to have few or no reviews in other English sources. I have created more than a few such articles, and I was wondering if you could take a look at them? Another problem I have encountered is that it is not always easy to tell if an article already exists for the game under another name (although in several cases I was able to create a redirect instead of starting a new article when I found this to be the case) so some of them may need to be merged into a duplicate article for the same game. However, I do prefer not to merge articles about games in a series to the series page if we can find enough sources to build the article. Would you mind taking a look to see what you can do with these? Thanks!BOZ (talk)15:59, 10 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I started by looking at the first four issues of Next Gen, and will go through the rest before long:
@BOZ: That's a maybe. I expanded the Boxer Road page since I'm such a fan of New Corp, and especially their gameThe Adventure of Little Ralph. Now, if sufficient information can't be found, then it might be better to redirect to the series page, or a list or something.Harizotoh9 (talk)05:22, 12 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Successive, increased tagging of a page that is undergoing AfD could be seen as trying to influence the outcome.Mattsephton (talk)14:16, 11 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I noticed you redirected an articleClean Asia! due to percieved lack of notability. I would please urge you to instead use an AfD if the article has some references. An AfD will give people a chance to debate the facts while preventing the deletion of images in the article due to disuse, as was about to happen in said article.
Note that I personally think it is notable, and would be against an AfD, but redirecting an article is bad form when it is apparent people have worked for hours to actually write the article and reference it.ZXCVBNM (TALK)08:41, 13 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I've been holding myself back on saying something for a while, but I feel this problem is growing and something needs to be said.
Thevideo game review table is supposed to be supplemental to the text. It is not supposed to be a collection of every review score known. As the template guideline reads: "Every single-site review source should be used within the reception section. The reviews table supports the text. It is not to replicate the function of external review aggregators." This guideline is based on the "Wikipedia is not..." guidelineWikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information.
I've noticed a lot of your edits have been adding scores to these tables, without any supplemental text. While it's not so much a problem on underdeveloped articles, it is a concern on high quality articles that are written better, like Good/Featured articles. I think such efforts, while amicable, would be better spent on a website like Sega Retro or NEC Retro. I'm going to go back soon and start to undo some of these changes that were done on those high quality articles.TarkusABtalk12:07, 8 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there, I'm hoping you can help me with something since you seem smart with how archive.org work. I recently uploaded a couple Neo Geo magazines to archive.org, my first uploads:Neo Geo World Vol 1 andNeo Geo All Catalog. Archive is a powerful tool but kind of annoying to use, which is why I don't bother. It's mostly trained on public domain files and has more difficulties with 20th century material.
1. A bot will come along to guess which collection it belongs to based on topics and descriptions. Otherwise you will have to email archive directly to tell them to move it to the right collection.
2. Archive tries to guess the title page and it was trained on books from the 18th to 19th century in the public domain. To change it manually you have toedit the scandata.xml file.
3. For many Japanese magazines and books they will have to be made to read right to left.Harizotoh9 (talk)03:27, 11 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

His birth name is Dale Emanuel Wilson and "Dalauan Sparrow" is a fake name he uses online because he doesn't want his real name out there. Yes, I'm aware he uses it on all his social media, but it's not his real name. I'm in the gaming scene so I've been following this guy for years. The fact that there's no reliable sources that cover his actual birth name suggests he isn't notable enough at all. The page should probably be sent toWP:AFD. He's only notable for one event (WP:ONEEVENT), which is being banned from Evo. The rest are trivial mentions. This should be covered in a few sentences in the history of evo article.Harizotoh9 (talk)20:17, 10 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, Harizotoh9,
When you tag a page for deletion (CSD, PROD, AFD/TFD/CFD/etc.), you need to leave an accurate edit summary stating this. For instance, should an editor remove your PROD tag fromLowTierGod, we need to be able to see that it had already been PROD'd once and we see that by looking at edit summaries. Also, any time you tag a page, you must post a notice on the talk page of the page creator. If you make use ofTwinkle, the program will do this automatically for you once you set up your Preferences to "Notify page creator" so this makes it easy. I recommend using it if you think you'll do more tagging of pages for deletion. Thanks.LizRead!Talk!06:18, 17 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Huh? You don't copy text on Wikipeida. Text is copyrighted but facts are not. Is it factually inaccurate? The order doesn't matter.
Also, multiple articles and Franzese himself keep talking about "15 million" in restitution, not 15+ 3 = 18. My guess is that the 3 million is bundled in the 14.7 the other sources talk about, thus its' double counting.Harizotoh9 (talk)22:07, 13 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

You changed the text I added to add a dangling modifier. I wrote:
The remaining stones were dismantled by authorities later in the day with a backhoe. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) reported the demolition was done for for safety reasons.
which you changed to:
The remaining stones were dismantled by authorities later in the day with a backhoe for safety reasons according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
I tried to put it in one sentence but the problem is that it is unclear. Is it according to the GBI that it was done for safety reasons? Or that it was demolished with a backhoe? Or that it was demolished at all. The least awkward way to word it to be unambiguous is to use two sentences. Shorter is not always better. Note that if you read, for example, the New York Times article it puts "for safety reasons" in quotes (presumably because they don't have other sources to verify that) but says it was demolished without quotes.
Also note that the GBI uses the word "demolished" not "dismantled". something that's been dismantled might possibly be re-assembled; something that's been demolished generally can't be (seehttps://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/demolish vshttps://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/dismantle). Looking at photos of the demolition, demolished does seem more accurate.
Can you please restore the text to unambiguous wording?

You reverted my edit clarifying the statement that the guidestones were demolished for "safety reasons." I wrote "I cannot find any independent reporting of this as fact" and you responded saying "The source of reporting is reuters." True and not my point. Yes, Reuters did report it and as responsible journalists they said this was what the GBI said. They did not independently vet this as fact nor did they cite any other sources to substantiate it.
As the text is now it has a dangling phrase in it: "The remaining stones were dismantled by authorities for safety reasons later in the day with a backhoe, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation." It is impossible to understand what part of the sentence before the comma is "according to the GBI." Is it that it was dismantled by authorities, that it was done for safety reasons, or that it was done with a backhoe? The reader can't tell. That's why I split it into two sentences.
Here's a rewording that fixes that.
According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the remaining stones were dismantled by authorities for safety reasons later with a backhoe in the day.
Do you have any objections to my making this edit? I don't want an edit war.Vroo (talk)07:35, 5 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

TASS is not onthe list of deprecated sources. All media twist facts to favor their owners and sponsors, there's nothing unusual about that—that's why multiple sources should always be consulted. In this particular case, there's no reason for TASS to misreport. All they did here anyway wasreporting what Iran's Deputy FM told an Iranian TV channel. If you suspect they have misquoted him or mistranslated him, you can visitIRIB's website and try to find the video yourself. Hi -- I reverted a couple of your edits because they removed double spaces -- onThe Spider (magazine) andMunsey's Magazine. ForThe Spider I restored the infobox, but I haven't used the bot you used to archive links onMunsey's, so perhaps you could redo that edit? Please don't remove double spaces at the end of sentences in general -- it's a cosmetic edit (which is discouraged anyway) because it has no effect on the displayed version of the article, and it's usually there because it's the preference of the main editor of that article -- some editors just prefer it. A little warning for theGOCE Requests page: Normally, there is no need to remove completed requests because YiFeiBot does so automatically within 24 hours, but if it malfunctions for one reason or another, at leastarchive it firsthere by adding important detailsbefore deleting the original request. We can't have missing records here.Mox Eden (talk)15:57, 14 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi there. I noticed you contributed a lot to ATHENA 〜Awakening from the ordinary life〜 and wondered if by any chance you found articles related to the other visual novel by the same developersThe King of Fighters: Kyo (1998 video game). I made this article some weeks ago but only found 12 references to use in total. If you find anything just post it in the talk page. Cheers.Tintor2 (talk)19:15, 23 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. I noticedthis edit. I am just checking whether this was an outcome of a discussion somewhere, or a unilateral action from you? It's rather unusual to redirect a fairly long article with 23 years of history without such a discussion I think.John (talk)19:28, 28 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
