Hi.The Wall Street Journal is effectively subscriber-only. Get some 'free' articles but not for a month like other media, it's for a much longer time. Haven't been able to read WSJ since late August. Once a speedy deletion tag is placed on an article such as2016 Nevada wildfire, it should not be replaced. Instead,WP:PROD orWP:AFD may be used to discuss the article further. --Jax 0677 (talk)20:12, 7 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Heyo! Thanks for adding theBluecut Fire to the list. I made one change to your addition. I trimmed down the notes dramatically. While I do feel that what you added is of great significance, I feel strongly that it belongs on the article page for the fire itself, not in the notes field. At the moment a "unknown number of structures have been destroyed" according to InciWeb. Once they (or someone else) release good solid number, that should absolutely be included in the table. But specific structures I don't think should go in the list. Otherwise that table is going to blow up! Does that make sense? Let me know your thoughts. Keep up the great work!

I must say that I am disappointed that you just ignored my request for some sort of explanation and instead just carried on editing. I spent half an hour finding and removing your copy pasting. No "I'm sorry". No "Thanks for cleaning up my blatant copyvios". Nothing. Did you even review your own contribs to see if I missed anything?

ThePortals WikiProject has been rebooted.
You are invited tojoin, and participate in the effort to revitalize and improve thePortal system and all the portals in it.
There are sections on the WikiProject page dedicated to tasks (including WikiGnome tasks too), and areas on the talk page for discussing the improvement and automation of the various features of portals.
Many complaints have been lodged in the RfC to delete all portals, pointing out their various problems. They say that many portals are not maintained, or have fallen out of date, are useless, etc. Many of the !votes indicate that the editors who posted them simply don't believe in the potential of portals anymore.
It's time to change all that. Let's give them reasons to believe in portals, by revitalizing them.
The best response to a deletion nomination is to fix the page that was nominated. The further underway the effort is to improve portals by the time the RfC has run its course, the more of the reasons against portals will no longer apply. RfCs typically run 30 days. There are 19 days left in this one. Let's see how many portals we can update and improve before the RfC is closed, and beyond.
A healthy WikiProject dedicated to supporting and maintaining portals may be the strongest argument of all not to delete.
We may even surprise ourselves and exceed all expectations. Who knows what we will be able to accomplish in what may become the biggest Wikicollaboration in years.
Let's do this.
See ya at the WikiProject!
Sincerely, —The Transhumanist 10:21, 21 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
TheRfC discussion to eliminate portals was closed May 12, with the statement "There exists a strong consensus against deleting or even deprecating portals at this time." This was made possible because you and others came to the rescue. Thank you for speaking up.
By the way, the current issue of the Signpost features an article with interviews aboutthe RfC and the Portals WikiProject.
I'd also like to let you know that thePortals WikiProject is working hard to make sure your support of portals was not in vain. Toward that end, we have been working diligently to innovate portals, while building, updating, upgrading, and maintaining them. The project has grown to 80 members so far, and has become a beehive of activity.
Our two main goals at this time are to automate portals (in terms of refreshing, rotating, and selecting content), and to develop a one-page model in order to make obsolete and eliminate most of the 150,000 subpages from the portal namespace by migrating their functions to the portal base pages, using technologies such as selective transclusion. Please feel free to join in on any of the many threads of development at theWikiProject's talk page, or just stop by to see how we are doing. If you have any questions about portals or portal development, that is the best place to ask them.
If you would like to keep abreast of developments on portals, keep in mind that theproject's members receive updates on their talk pages. The updates are also postedhere, for your convenience.
Again, we can't thank you enough for your support of portals, and we hope to make you proud of your decision. Sincerely, —The Transhumanist 10:49, 25 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. TheWikipedia:WikiProject Current events format is currently being updated. However, one new change is a section for "Current discussions". ThePortal:Current events has debates all the time to determine if things are notable for the portal (international news) or if they are better suited for a place like2020 in the United States. In the past, small 'edit wars' have taken place between editors over topics. This new section on the WikiProject is a new place where editors can discuss between each other and have an easy access to 'outside opinion' from other participates. Members in the Current Event WikiProject are welcome to invite other editors that have disagreements to start the discussion on the WikiProject. (Unlike RFC's, discussions about topics would be about 1 week or whenever the topic is no longer relevant from the WikiProject).
Thank you for reading and thank you for participating in the Current Event WikiProject! (Current Event WikiProject Coordinator)Elijahandskip (talk)19:13, 11 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Before entering into a possible avoidable dispute, I will give you my opinion about the latest editions in Current Events and see what we can do. I understand that the importance of the post-Trump cabinet of the United States is recognized and everyone has followed the nominations. But is it really necessary that every confirmation has to be posted? I could come to understand Lloyd Austin's, and evenDeb Haaland's, but personally I don't think this is the place to post something that implies that it looks more like a timeline of the early days of the Biden presidency. And the same is my opinion about the Trump edits, but at the time he was not very active. I do not know what is the line that Wikipedia follows in this regard, so if you know I will be happy for you to explain it to me. A greeting.Alsoriano97 (talk)21:58, 22 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed onCategory:Journalists killed in Venezuela requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done undersection C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not adisambiguation category, acategory redirect, afeatured topics category, under discussion atCategories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you maycontest the nomination byvisiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Hi GWA88. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group. Please check back atthe permissions page in case your user right is time-limited or probationary. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them aspatrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at theNew Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encyclopedia. If you have not already done so, youmust read the tutorial atNew Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand thedeletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use thenew page reviewer talk page or ask via theNPP Discord. In addition, please remember:
The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. If you can read any languages other than English, please add yourself to thelist of new page reviewers with language proficiencies.Hey man im josh (talk)14:14, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello GWA88,

Backlog update: The October drive reduced the article backlog from 11,626 to 7,609 and the redirect backlog from 16,985 to 6,431! Congratulations toSchminnte, who led with over 2,300 points.
Following that, New Page Patrol organized another backlog drive for articles in January 2024. The January drive started with 13,650 articles and reduced the backlog to 7,430 articles. Congratulations toJTtheOG, who achieved first place with 1,340 points in this drive.
Looking at the graph, it seems like backlog drives are one of the only things keeping the backlog under control. Another backlog drive is being planned for May. Feel free to participate in theMay backlog drive planning discussion.
It's worth noting that both queues are gradually increasing again and are nearing 14,034 articles and 22,540 redirects. We encourage you to keep contributing, even if it's just a single patrol per day. Your support is greatly appreciated!
2023 Awards

Onel5969 won the 2023 cup with 17,761 article reviews last year - that's an average of nearly 50/day. There was one Platinum Award (10,000+ reviews), 2 Gold Awards (5000+ reviews), 6 Silver (2000+), 8 Bronze (1000+), 30 Iron (360+) and 70 more for the 100+ barnstar.Hey man im josh led on redirect reviews by clearing 36,175 of them. For the full details, see theAwards page and theHall of Fame. Congratulations everyone for their efforts in reviewing!
WMF work on PageTriage: TheWMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developersdeployed the rewritten NewPagesFeed in October, and thengave the NewPagesFeed a slight visual facelift in November. This concludes most major work toSpecial:NewPagesFeed, and most major work by the WMF Moderator Tools team, whowrapped up their major work on PageTriage in October. The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers will continue small work on PageTriage as time permits.
Recruitment: A couple of the coordinators have been inviting editors to become reviewers, via mass-messages to their talk pages. If you know someone who you'd think would make a good reviewer, then a personal invitation to them would be great. Additionally, if there are Wikiprojects that you are active on, then you can add a post there asking participants to join NPP. Please be careful not to double invite folks that have already been invited.
Reviewing tip: Reviewers who prefer to patrol new pages within their most familiar subjects can use the regularly updatedNPP Browser tool.

Re:this edit while I certainly agree that this is a goal of Israel, and they've conducted strikes in pursuit of that goal, I'm not aware of sufficient evidence that would suggest that they've successfully accomplished that goal at this time. There's not a comprehensiveBDA that I'm aware of that states conclusively that Syria's strategic weapons were actually destroyed. I'm sure we'll get there eventually, but it seems premature at the moment, and perhaps this needs to be reworded to account for the lack of certainty here?⇒SWATJesterShoot Blues, Tell VileRat!00:29, 10 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, so you thank me about my edit about shooting down of SU-35 on Saturday in the current events... But then user XYZ1233212 deletes it an hour later. And he already had complaints about such behaviour on their talk page.IHaveBecauseOfLocks (talk)18:19, 9 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'd stated my rationale in the initial edit summary:
No prejudice against re-addition with a better source, but seeWP:AAPOLITICS - they're also citing an Iranian state outlet (Fars) for the total, and whileWP:RSP hasn't listed Fars specifically, most Iranian-state-backed sources have been deprecated.
For reference, seeWP:TASNIMNEWSAGENCY,WP:HISPANTV, andWP:PRESSTV. The blurb's using a GUNREL source to repeat something that's being claimed by a deprecated source - RSes that've reported the death toll have specifically noted the numbers have not been independently verified. At thevery least, attribution is necessary.TheKip(contribs)23:20, 13 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
