License tagging for File:Devinci logo.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploadingFile:Devinci logo.png. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set ofimage copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag fromthis list, click onthis link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. Speedy deletion nomination ofGAVI Alliance

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to readthe guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using theArticle Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed onGAVI Alliance, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of thecriteria for speedy deletion, by which articles can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

  • It seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. (Seesection G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please readthe guidelines on spam andWikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.
  • It appears to be a clearcopyright infringement. (Seesection G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source ofinformation, but not as a source ofsentences. This part is crucial:say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violatorswill beblocked from editing.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then youmust verify that externally by one of the processes explained atWikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, seeWikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. However, even if you use one of these processes to release copyrighted material to Wikipedia, it still needs to comply with the otherpolicies and guidelines to be eligible for inclusion. If you would like any assistance with this, you can ask a question at thehelp desk.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visitthe page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent withWikipedia's policies and guidelines.GregJackP Boomer!18:46, 26 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

April - National Contribution Month

[edit]
Good day Dhodges,

During the month of April, Wikimedia Canada is preparing theNational Contribution Month, and we are looking for experienced contributors to organize a contribution day (or half-day) in their region.

This meetings generally take place in library where references are easy of access, but can be organized in any communal room. Beside improving articles, a goal of this participatory workshops is to initiate neophyte in the cooperative contribution of Wikipedia.

If you are interested in organizing or participating in a contribution day in your region, communicate witht he national team on theproject's talk page. The exact agenda of each local event is left to the discretion of the organizer. Help is available for the organization from contributors who already organized these type of days, so don't be worried. If you have any questions or want more information, don't hesitate tocontact us.

Focus on...

THE
HISTORICALJESUS

What was Jesus like? What did he preach? Did he claim to be the Messiah? Did he predict an apocalypse? What can we know about him outside a religious context? TheHistorical Jesus article discusses what can be known about Jesus with various degrees of probability. While scholars agree on the over all flow and outline of Jesus' life (hisbaptism by John, debated Jewish authorities, healings, andhis crucifixion by Pilate) they have built various and diverging portraits of the rest of his life. These range from minimalist portraits that accept very little of the gospel accounts to maximalists who accept most of the accounts as historical.

The portraits of Jesus have at times been unwitting reflections of the researchers themselves, andCrossan once quipped that some authors "do autobiography and call it biography". However, the study of historical Jesus has made one thing clear: there is so much to learn about Jesus that the more one looks, the more there is to discover.

From the bookshelf

Jesus of Nazareth: An Independent Historian's Account of His Life and Teaching by Maurice Casey 2010ISBN 0-567-64517-7

In this bookMaurice Casey not only draws on his special expertise in theAramaic traditions and theQ source, but provides a comprehensive review of the various approaches to the historical Jesus.

File permission problem with File:Palace Hall reconstruction.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploadingFile:Palace Hall reconstruction.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under theCC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (seethis list)at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication topermissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letterhere. If you take this step, add{{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email topermissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria atWikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as{{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed atWikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add arationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. SeeWikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created inyour upload log.Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described oncriteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia'simage use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at theMedia copyright questions page. Thank you.Stefan2 (talk)21:16, 25 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A Song for Simeon, is a 37-line poem written in 1928 by American-English poetT. S. Eliot (1888–1965). It isone of five poems that Eliot contributed to theAriel poems series of 38 pamphlets by several authors published byFaber and Gwyer. "A Song for Simeon" was the sixteenth in the series and included an illustration byavant garde artistEdward McKnight Kauffer. The poem's narrative echoes the text of theNunc dimittis, a liturgical prayer forCompline from the Gospel passage. Eliot introduces literary allusions to earlier writersLancelot Andrewes,Dante Alighieri andSt. John of the Cross. Critics have debated whether Eliot's depiction of Simeon is a negative portrayal of a Jewish figure and evidence ofanti-Semitism on Eliot's part.(more...)
