Cube internal solid angles

[edit]

I am inquiring about the logic behind the decision to remove my edit on the value of the internal solid angles of cubes in steradians. Where is this explained on the page before (the dihedral angle is not the same as the solid angle,so why would this be redudant)? It may be useful to have this information. Could you explain this decision a bit more?Ncgtr (talk)12:13, 9 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Ncgtr My apologies. I think I misread this one, for not explaining what is the meaning of "internal solid angle". Do you have a better source for this, because MathWorld mentions the solid angle of a cube's face is2π/3{\displaystyle 2\pi /3}?Dedhert.Jr (talk)01:44, 10 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately I don't have a direct source but AI mentions this. This is based on the fact that a sphere is covered by 4pi steradians, and the if the sphere is divided into 8 equal sections each would cover 4pi/8 or pi/2 steradians. The solid angle at the corner of the section at the center of the sphere would therefore be pi/2 steradians, and this corner is the same as the corners of a cube.Ncgtr (talk)01:58, 10 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Ncgtr Now this is the problem that every Wikipedian uses AI for the sake of writing. In Wikipedia, it is required to providea reliable source for supporting the fact and verifiability. You might want to readthe background of this source for a long time.Dedhert.Jr (talk)02:02, 10 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I took "internal solid angle" to mean that which is to vertices as adihedral angle is to edges.—Tamfang (talk)21:55, 10 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Tamfang that is what I am trying to describeNcgtr (talk)04:41, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

List of Johnson solids

[edit]

Hello, I have gone ahead and fixed thescope=rows for this list. The proper way to use scopes are to put the scope rows in the spot of the row for what the list is meant for. It was in the number spot but the focus on the list isn't the number but on the actual solids. I hope this can help you for the future and for any future lists you decide to fix, make, or nominate!
