When you ;list an article for deletion, it isrequired that you say so in the edit summary, to help us overworked admins find the edit in the edit history when we consider deletion. It is also good practice to notify the originator of the article
When you tag a page for deletion, if you reload the page, you will find a section on the delete template which says something along the lines of:
Please consider placing the template:{{subst:nn-warn|Dj slyce|header=1}} ~~~~on the talk page of the author. Copy the template and paste it onto the user talk page of the creator of the article.If you use Twinkle, you will find a check box for this, which is even easier.
