Kurdish-stub

[edit]

Even if there be a need for a Kurdish-stub, there is no need to apply it (or any other stub template) to articles that are not stubs.CaerwineCaer’s whines20:57, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I see, but we need for other stubs ..there are a lot of kurdish stubs' articles, seehere. I additionArbil is capital ofIraqi Kurdistan. --Bohater21:39, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Please explain how an Iraqi football club article is specifically Kurdish. Stub templates donot get applied for peripheral associations, if they were stub articles would routinely have ten or more templates which is ludicrous. Stub types are not categories. So unless they only let Kurds play,Arbil FC does not warrant that stub. Simply being in Arbil is insufficient.CaerwineCaer’s whines21:58, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry I don't understand. Arbil FC is the football club ofArbil and this town lies official inIraqi Kurdistan. Read this article, and then discuss, oky!. AEditwar is not good. --Bohater22:01, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I wasn't aware that soccer was played differently by Kurds. Locale alone is not sufficient for applying ethnic related stub templates.CaerwineCaer’s whines22:07, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I see, help us. --Bohater22:11, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Just to be clear though, given its locale, it is probably appropriate forArbil FC to have the Kurdish Wikiproject template (depending on how broad a scope the WP wants to cover) on its talk page, but that is a separate issue. As far as stub templates go, anything that is sufficiently differentiated by locale does not get a further differentiation by ethnicity unless it relates to something about that culture. Since soccer is not Kurdish specific, then unless they have a Kurds only policy or the like, as far as stubbing is concerned it is an Iraqi football club, and any further stub types would be excessive.CaerwineCaer’s whines22:16, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
is oky, i see. --Bohater22:17, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sugestion

[edit]

Hi Bohater - firstly, I'd like to apologise for my speedy deletion of Kurdish-stub. The problem is, though, that it was already being used in a way very similar to the deleted Kurdistan-stub. Caerwine tells me that you were using it in a sensible manner, but clearly there was at least one other editor who was marking things like geo-stubs in eastern Turkey and northern Iraq, which definitely shouldn't have been marked that way - p[laces are marked using current official borders, and to mark them in other ways leaves the articles open to the probability of edit-warring. I'm open to a proposal for a Kurdish-stub that can some how get around the possibility of it being misused by editors with specific political views, but to be honest I'm not sure how that could be done. If you can think of any way of maintaining it in a way that would avoid the possibility of POV problems, though, I'd welcome it. Some of the suggestions you have been talking to Valentinian about (such as Kurdish-history-stub or Kurdish-culture-stub) might be one way around it.Grutness...wha?05:41, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, guys let us wait it, what the result ofWikipedia:Stub types for deletion/Log/2007/June/12 is. thanks --Bohater11:37, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Kurdish Barnstar

[edit]

You awarded me andHeja helweda the Kurdish barnstar, but there was no template for it and the image you uploaded was deleted. I took the liberty to create the template for it and created a vector based image for the template. I replaced both awards with this new template, so from now on use this template. I will also add this to theWikiProject Kurdistan template section. --D.Kurdistani07:25, 5 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Categorization: Uncategorized Germany stubs need to becategorized
Project news
  • Cities and municipalities task force

Thetask force dedicated to creating and improving articles on all German cities and municipalities is happy to announce that there are now (at least) stub articles for all municipalities of Germany. Now the task force is looking for help in fleshing these out a little bit. The current phase of activity for the task force is to copy in infoboxes from the articles in German Wikipedia. If you want to help, even just for a few articles, look at the instructions and linkshere

  • Article Assessment:

There are now way over26.000 articles tagged as part of our Wikiproject and many still need either an importance or a quality assessment. Also there are many more out there that do need to be tagged like approx 8000 municipalities. If you would like to help take a browse throughArticles needing Importance assessment orArticles needing a basic quality assessment.

I have nominatedList of Kurdish articles, an article that you created, fordeletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why atWikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Kurdish articles. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the currentArbitration Committee election. TheArbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipediaarbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to imposesite bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. Thearbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome toreview the candidates' statements and submit your choices onthe voting page. Hi. I was wondering if you'd be interested in setting upWikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Turkey), based onWikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge andWikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). Now it's not a contest in itself, it's designed to motivate people to inspire others to improve content and build something which demonstrates the hard work going into the country which is visible. The focus is more on quality improvements but new articles are welcome too. Eventually a Turkish National Contest could be created to fuel it, likeWikipedia:Awaken the Dragon, in which contestants can choose to keep the Amazon vouchers themselves to buy their own books for more articles or put them into book fund to help editors further improve Turkish-related topics by giving them the books they want. It will begin though as purely an improvement drive. If interested, or you think anybody else might be interested, alert them and sign up on theWikipedia talk:WikiProject Turkey talk page at the bottom. Thank you. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk)14:12, 19 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite

[edit]

Hi. TheWikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/IrelandWikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge andWikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much likeWikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the currentWikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa.01:22, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Europe 10,000 Challenge invite

[edit]

Hi. TheWikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/IrelandWikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much likeWikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country likeWikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa.02:37, 6 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
