I'm equally tickled to see Leblanc has a Wiki article now, as I am by your latest edit which showed me George Matthews used to own Hospital Island lol!Fundy Isles Historian - J (talk)22:16, 8 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Fundy Isles Historian - J Hey, no problem. :) I just wanted to help out a bit by doing a little search on newspapers.com, I can maybe do more later after my term. I've noticed your work on entries related to the Passamaquoddy Bay area and I think it's very nice seeing. P.S. one of the newspaper articles I used for your Hospital Island article seemed to have concluded that its unsure whether quarantined individuals who died on the island were buried there due to people at the time failing to find bones, though I decided to see ifWilliam Francis Ganong wrote about the island on Canadiana archives and he seemed to have wrote a couple sentences on one of his geographical publishings. He recalled an early 1900s article from (I think) the Saint John Sun (or something similarly named) in which apparently a few dozen were buried at a certain point. My memory is a little bit fuzzy but I'll try to see if I can find his excerpt on it sometime.B3251(talk)01:28, 9 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
s:Author:William_Francis_Ganong is insanely prolific, sadly we have few of his works digitised. My userpage is a listing of Wikisource/Commons/Wikimedia stuff I've done, all of it just NB and primarily Fundy Isles - but if you have an interest in some specific niche of history in the province I'd be happy to help you out with an article or three. You're not Alex by chance?Fundy Isles Historian - J (talk)01:59, 9 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Fundy Isles Historian - J I am not an Alex, were you thinking of a certain area? I'm from the Southeasten part of the province. Also, thank you for the offer! Likewise, if you want any help with anything feel free to ping me or reach out to me and I'll be more than glad to help if I'm available.
You may or may not be already aware of this, but I have foundWP:TWL to be incredibly helpful for searching for NB sources, particularly when it comes to using provincial newspaper sources, and it's especially useful now given that Postmedia provided Newspapers.com with theBrunswick News archival papers that they stopped supporting on theTelegraph-Journal site back in late 2023. After you reach 500 edits, as long as you're at least somewhat-active each month (10+ edits monthly) you have access to a bunch of resources. If it's still in place, Newspapers.com will grant your account a free year-long Complimentary Publisher Extra plan when you use your Wikipedia account to apply (I forgot where, but I'm sure it can be found somewhere in the relevant talk pages). I'm pretty sure you can also just get it renewed every year. I couldn't recommend it enough, it's incredibly useful and I use it almost all the timeB3251(talk)03:31, 9 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, looks a little complicated glancing over it but I may try to figure it out since it sounds worthwhile; also sinceDeer Island (New Brunswick) and [[1]] (not to be confused withIndian Island 28) are the two articles I consider "done" - that means I literally cannot find anything else historically notable about either so would be impressed/appreciative if you were able to find more. One of my passions (visible on my userpage) is hunting down old PD images of these places.Fundy Isles Historian - J (talk)14:19, 9 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
