[edit]

Sir, I had edited the Jangid page...but it was not published...why --Deepak7559 (talk)13:20, 27 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Deepak7559: Hi, your edits were blocked by the edit filter. You can see the listhere. Please do not remove the short description and make sure your edits are formatted properly, with no all-caps or unnecessary asteriks.ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me!16:14, 27 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
then how to fix itDeepak7559 (talk)18:13, 27 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
By using correct formatting. Don't use all-caps or asterisks, write normally, and cite reliable sources.ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me!19:46, 27 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Stop removing the short description. It's the thing that starts with {{short description| or looks like a puzzle piece that says "Short description" after it.ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me!16:37, 31 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question fromPrStato (18:06, 31 August 2025)

[edit]

I need a photo for this article I’m working on, (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clivunellidae, if it helps) how should/can I get it? --PrStato (talk)18:06, 31 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@PrStato: Hi, you can try searchingWikimedia Commons to see if there are any useful photos. If not, you can try searching online through sites likeFlickr oriNaturalist, and finding using ones that havecompatible copyright licenses. Those can then be uploaded to Commons, and used on your article.
On a side note, please double check your references. I can't find the first paper online and the title, volume, date and page range for the second paper do not match on Springer, nor does it mention "Clivunellidae".ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me!02:08, 1 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I fixed it, is it good, or at least better, now?ClivunellidaePrStato (talk)16:27, 1 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I fixed it, (Clivunellidae) any other suggestions?PrStato (talk)16:35, 1 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Better, thanks.ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me!15:56, 2 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question fromPrStato (12:07, 2 September 2025)

[edit]

Thishttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clivunella article’s sidebar looks weird and has incorrect information, how do I fix it? --PrStato (talk)12:07, 2 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@PrStato: Regarding the fossil range, please use{{Geological range}}. I'm not familiar with this fossil, which parts of the infobox are incorrect? Your issues with referencing mentioned above are in this page as well.ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me!16:00, 2 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It is a genus, not a species, yet the species place is filled out for some reason and is bold.PrStato (talk)21:42, 2 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
And I fixed the other stuff, hopefully.PrStato (talk)21:48, 2 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@PrStato: For the infobox, you are currently using{{speciesbox}}, which is for species. Since that is a genus, you should be using{{Automatic taxobox}} instead. Simply switching it out should work.ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me!18:02, 3 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Did I fix this abomination of an article? Check the history of this article and tell me what I did and didn’t do right.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hereditary_sensory_and_autonomic_neuropathy --PrStato (talk)03:09, 7 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@PrStato: Seems fine for the most part. If you are going to be editing medical articles, please take a look atWikipedia:Identifying reliable sources (medicine). Medical articles should have more stringent sourcing requirements.ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me!18:16, 7 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Kampotcitizen: Hi, I'm not too familiar with maps, but as far as I can tell from{{Infobox settlement}}, you just need to put the map image in the |pushpin_map parameter, and put in the coordinates in the |coordinates parameterARandomName123 (talk)Ping me!13:30, 15 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hey! If I publish a page, will it get accepted, regardless of how old my account is? All information on the page are based on sources cited. --ScholarOfSources (talk)03:36, 15 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@ScholarOfSources: Hi, whether or not your page gets published (assuming you are submitting it throughWP:AfC), depends on the quality of the sources cited. How old your account is shouldn't matter much, if at all.ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me!13:27, 15 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi - I have a pretty popular podcast and would like to create a wikipedia page for it. How do I do that? --Punkholm (talk)17:29, 17 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Punkholm: Hi, you first need to evaluate thenotability of your podcast. Are there multiple reliable sources like news articles, that discuss or review your podcast?ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me!20:06, 17 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yes there are articles on the show as well as data from a range of podcast reports and rankings themselvesPunkholm (talk)22:38, 17 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Punkholm: In that case, you can start a draft through theWikipedia:Article wizard. I just edited this pagehttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lin_Shidong to add the image but it is my first time and ia m not sure would you be able to tell me if i did any mistake or if there is an issue ? --Pj599 (talk)10:47, 19 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Pj599: Hi, when you add images into the |image= part of the infobox, you don't need to include the [[File:]] parts of it. Just Linshidong.png should be fine. However, please make sure the images you upload are released under a compatible copyright license, for example into the public domain or CC-BY. Please note that the vast majority of images on the internet are copyrighted, and not released under a compatible license, and so can not be uploaded to Wikipedia.ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me!22:54, 19 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

How do I verify who I am? I am Jabari’s mother. Latosha Roberson. I am requesting editing to this page as I’m unable to make the corrections by myself because of conflict of interest. However, Jabari is my youngest son.LaLaGemini (talk)06:41, 25 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@LaLaGemini: Hi, if you would like to request an edit to a page, you usually do not need to verify your identity. However, if there are concerns you are impersonating someone, please email info-en@wikimedia.org including your real name and username. Again, this is probably not necessary for most situations.
As for editing the page, you can file a conflict-of-interest edit request atWikipedia:Edit Request Wizard/COI, describing what you would like to change, along with reliable sources. Due to the backlog of such requests, it may take a while to resolve. Alternatively, you can make a post at theWikipedia:Biographies of living persons/Noticeboard, or email info-en-q@wikimedia.org for more serious concerns.ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me!03:47, 26 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary account IP viewer granted

[edit]
The temporary account IP viewer logo, composed of the Wikipedia globe with a user and an IP address

Hello, ARandomName123. Per your request, your account has beengrantedtemporary-account-viewer rights. You are now able to reveal the IP addresses of individuals usingtemporary accounts that are not visible to the general public. This is very sensitive information that isonly to be used to aid in anti-abuse workflows. Please take a moment to reviewWikipedia:Temporary account IP viewer for more information on this user right. It is important to remember:

  • You must not share IP address data with someone who does not have the same access permissions unless disclosure is permissible as per guidelines listed atFoundation:Policy:Wikimedia Access to Temporary Account IP Addresses Policy.
  • Accessmust not be used for political control, to apply pressure on editors, or as a threat against another editor in a content dispute. There must be a valid reason to investigate a temporary user. Note that using multiple temporary accounts is not forbidden, so long as they are not used in violation of policies (for example, block or ban evasion).

It is also important to note that the following actions are logged for others to see:

  • When a user accepts the preference that enables or disables IP reveal for their account.
  • Revealing an IP address of a temporary account.
  • Listing the temporary accounts that are associated with one or moreIP addresses (using theCIDR notation format).

Remember, even if a user is violating policy, avoid revealing personal information if possible. Use temporary account usernames rather than disclosing IP addresses directly, or give information such as same network/not same network or similar. If you do not want the user right anymore then please ask me or another administrator and it will be removed for you. You may also voluntarily give up access at any time by visitingSpecial:Preferences. Happy editing!asilvering (talk)21:00, 27 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Asking for Review

[edit]

Hey! How are you? I saw your a student in Canada, I visited Toronto last year and let me tell you, it was FREEZING, Respect to you for getting used to the cold. Back to the topic, I came by an article which was denied, I researched about the individual and found some independent sources, he is a pharmacologist and my father was one too so it inspired work on his profile. I did what i could to make the article neutral, removed all the self published links, added independent sources and fixed the article. I have submitted it for review can you have a look?

Draft talk:Theoharis C. Theoharides

Thanks! And good luck with your studies!Jason Quinnn (talk)21:31, 29 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Jason Quinnn: Thanks for your comment, but the individual does not appear to meetWP:NPROF.Furthermore, your apparent impersonation attempt does not paint a good picture of your intentions.ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me!06:00, 30 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@ARandomName123That's alright! No need for the apology - There was a confusion in between the two, I shared my documentation so all was sorted, I am currently working on a article, that was previously rejected, Theoharis, It said there were no prominent references, so I have been doing my homework and found 6-7 independent references.
Can you lemme know if its good to go now? If yes I can submit it for review.

A favor regarding your access to the University of Toronto

[edit]

I can't access their catalogue due to some internet issues so could you check their catalogue for these books?

1) Arturo Alessandri: A Biography 2 Vol. (1977)

2) El APRA por dentro (1988)

3) El Paraguay Bajo Nacionalismo, 1935–1947

4) El APRA Busca del poder, 1930-1940

(This is technically piracy, but may I request a full scan of these books? All of the books here are very obscure and never see the light of day outside of a few university libraries. To add on, it's practically impossible to purchase most of these physically or digitally, excluding the first one.)

Avocadopiu (talk)04:52, 21 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Avocadopiu: Hi, yes the catalogue lists all these books. However, I can't scan all these books. There's probably a couple thousand pages worth of material across all those books, which I will need to scan by hand. Unfortunately, I don't have time for that. If you can isolate down the pages you need (ie. through GBooks/HathiTrust where possible) I can scan those excerpts. I could also scan the Table of Contents or Index if needed.
If you do need the full books, you can ask the WMF to buy them for you through theWikipedia:Resource support pilot. Most of them seem to have physical copies available for purchase, though I'm not sure about shipping. (2,3,4).ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me!05:20, 21 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
ForEl APRA en busca del Poder, would you be able to scan the chapter index?Avocadopiu (talk)03:00, 22 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Avocadopiu: Sure. Might take a couple days though, I'm a bit busy IRL.ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me!19:38, 22 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Avocadopiu: Got some time today, I've emailed the chapter index to you.ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me!21:43, 23 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thx. Could you also scan the table of contents forEl APRA por dentro?Avocadopiu (talk)03:06, 24 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Avocadopiu: Will do. Do you need the table of contents for the other two as well? It's easier for me to just do them all at once if necessary.ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me!05:50, 24 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'd like the table of contents for El Paraguay Bajo Nacionalismo as well, I've already placed an order forArturo Alessandri: A Biography.Avocadopiu (talk)05:55, 24 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Avocadopiu: Sounds good, will get that as well. Any pages you want fromEl APRA en busca del Poder? Also, please mark your request for El Mariscal Benavides Vol. 2 on RX as resolved if you've received my second emailARandomName123 (talk)Ping me!06:04, 24 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I just found out that the author ofEl APRA busca del Poder is not a historian, and literally took part in anAPRA revolt, so probably not the most reliable source...
For my RX request I'll mark it as done.Avocadopiu (talk)06:48, 24 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Ah yea, that makes sense.
Thanks.ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me!06:37, 25 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like page pp. 43–75 forEl Paraguay Bajo Nacionalismo.Avocadopiu (talk)03:19, 26 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Avocadopiu: Anything from El APRA por dentro?ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me!06:59, 26 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It's a primary source so there's some other sources I'd want first. Could you check your university catalogue if they have these books?

1) Nueva historia del Paraguay (2020 edition)

2) La revolution democrática del General Antonio Rodríguez Ramírez (1942)

3) Historia General del Perú (1984) by Margarita Guerra (Vol 12. specifically, I'm fine with either the 1984 edition or the 1990 edition)

4) Uruguay: The Story of South America's Most Successful Country (2025) V. N. Henderson

5) Alessandri. Personaje de la historia, 1868-1950 (1968) by Feliu Cruz GuillermoAvocadopiu (talk)07:11, 26 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Avocadopiu: Unfortunately, I don't believe we have any of those. We have a couple books titled "Historia General del Perú", but I don't think they're the same as what you're looking for.ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me!02:39, 27 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Then could you search anything under "Arturo Alessandri", "Nilo Pecanha", or "Alfonso Pumarejo López"?Avocadopiu (talk)03:00, 27 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Avocadopiu: Like just search the catalog for the results?ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me!03:25, 27 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yep. Could you also check forHiginio Morínigo: el Soldado-Dictador?Avocadopiu (talk)03:37, 27 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
We have that one. Do you need the table of contents/index?

Question fromRed-Halo9001 (03:14, 24 October 2025)

[edit]

Hello, so I asked a question in the Talk section of the Advance Wars Wikipedia page on if I could add a mention of it's largest fangame that has grown in size and attention than the original games:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Advance_Wars#Advance_Wars_has_a_notable_and_still_growing_20_year_old_fan-game_that_is_starting_to_overshadow_the_original_games.

I didn't get a response from anyone else there yet. What do you think I should do? --Red-Halo9001 (talk)03:14, 24 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Red-Halo9001: Hi, unfortunately not all Talk pages are monitored closely. If you don't receive a response, try posting at the article's project page, in this case,Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Video games. However, I noticed an editor did see your message (pinging @Soetermans), so maybe they'll respond if you ask/ping them, which I have done.
In my opinion, the Hardcore Gaming 101 (perWikipedia:WikiProject Video games/Sources) article seems good enough to add a mention of the fan game, so feel free to do so. I would not cite the Youtube video or discord server.ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me!05:47, 24 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question fromBorrissimmus (18:26, 25 October 2025)

[edit]

Hello ARandomName123, thank you for helping me getting introduced to editing in wikipedia! I soon want to start with my first edits and have chosen the following article:https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=B%C3%B6rse_Berlin&gesuggestededit=1I would appreciate your opinion on my choice as this is my first time making edits. I do have certain skills like controling information, knowing myself a lot about various topics and controlling english on level C1, I'm a native Dutch and Bulgarian speaker too. So what would you recomend me to start with? I like the science topics, history about WW2 and the cold war and things related to the Netherlands and Bulgaria. --Borrissimmus (talk)18:26, 25 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Borrissimmus: Hi, if you're not familiar with how editing on Wikipedia works, I'd recommend taking a look atHelp:Introduction. I'd advise using the VisualEditor, which is easier to start with. Science, history, and country topics usually have aWikiProject associated with it, and they have tasks that you can do (for example, theMilitary History WikiProject has a list of taskshere). I would recommend starting with copyediting grammar, or addingreliable references to the end of sentences that don't have any.
Your homepage, located atSpecial:Homepage should also have some suggested edits for you to do, which you can filter by the topics you're interested in, and the difficulty of edits.ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me!20:45, 25 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

HelloHow can I publish a page after writing it? --Liveserve (talk)20:42, 25 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Liveserve: Hi, please go to theWikipedia:Article wizard and follow the instructions to create a draft of your article. Once it is ready, click the "Submit for review" button. It should then display a box which reads "Review waiting, please be patient".ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me!20:49, 25 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question fromBorrissimmus onUser talk:ARandomName123 (21:03, 25 October 2025)

[edit]

Hi, I've just made my first corrections on the page I sent you. It are only language corrections. I would appreciate it if you would revise it. I'm planning to also make some information changes on the following page:https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Internet_in_Portugal&gesuggestededit=1 as this is an important page yet very outdated. --Borrissimmus (talk)21:03, 25 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Borrissimmus: Looks fine for the most part, just remember that on Wikipedia, we generally avoid using contractions like don't, and instead use do not.ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me!21:50, 25 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
