My name isBrian C. Keegan and I am an Americancomputational social scientist and associate professor at theUniversity of Colorado Boulder's Department of Information Science. I was previously a research associate at theHarvard Business School andpost-doctoral research fellow atNortheastern University. I received my PhD from theMedia, Technology, Society program atNorthwestern University in 2012. I received my bachelors degrees inmechanical engineering andscience, technology, and society atMIT and anInternational Baccalaureate diploma fromGreen Valley High School inHenderson, Nevada. Mydissertation examined howWikipedians collaborate to write aboutcurrent and breaking news events. I use a variety of research methods such asnetwork analysis,statistical models,data mining,natural language processing, andweb-based experiments to understand analyzeself-organization inpeer production,model elections, understandgroup decision making on networks, and extract networks frominstitutional histories.
