I have a varied background, mostly related to the organising and retrieval of information. I also have many and varied interests. On Wikipedia, I am mostly driven by a desire to provide good information, reliable sources, and signposting to the information (via redirects and disambiguation pages) and also like to organise and structure articles to improve readability. Articles I edit are often stumbled across by chance rather than intention, although probably tend to favour the arts in general, especially film and books. In recent years have tried to increase my output on Australian and specifically South Australian articles, living in this neck of the woods, and have done a bit on local history.

I am a Wikipedian in Residence at theSouth Australian Museum from 23 June until around late August 2025, as part of the Wikimedia Australia Partner Projects 2024–2025. This is a paid position funded by Wikimedia Australia. I have no prior affiliation with the South Australian Museum and no other relevant conflicts of interest. My role involves reviewing and improving Wikipedia content related toDouglas Mawson, with a focus on his research and exploration of the Flinders Ranges and Arkaroola, using materials from the Museum's collections, and possibly expanding hisBANZARE expedition further down the track, as time permits.
A pet project: I have also made some attempts to improve coverage and terminology relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, history, and culture, and would welcome any contributions tothis draft I knocked up some years ago about terminology and spelling issues, such as that we always spell Aboriginal and Indigenous with initial capitals when referring to Australian people. I know that there has been other work in this area and it would be good to get it consolidated and have a MOS reference page for all editors to refer to when writing about First Nations people in Australia. (Place names is another area about which conversations have arisen on various talk pages.)
