Hi there! I am Brian E. Logan, Esq. I am an experienced lawyer, administrator, and teacher. I have been an editor at Wikipedia for over 18 years, including my past service as an administrator for seven years.

All of my work is my own and nothing I write or edit should be ascribed to any former or current employer or client.

    My careers

    [edit]

I am a biology teacher, on a sabbatical as of August 31, 2024, when my contract expired at an independent school in Manhattan, and an attorney.

I was one of 1,300New York City Teaching Fellows, as a science teacher. I started mypre-service training in June 2017, with my master's studies at theRelay Graduate School of Education. I have passed all of my required educator tests and background check, and was provisionally licensed. For eight years, I taught at middle schools inThe Bronx, independent and charter schools inManhattan, and several charter schools inBrooklyn, fromKindergarten to 12th grade. I'm most proud of getting students to pass their state tests. I defended my dissertation successfully in 2019, and completed my certification by summer 2020. For three years, I taught at the high school and AP levels.

I'm also licensed as an attorney and notary public. I taughtparalegal studies, business law, andcriminal justice atBryant & Stratton College for 19 years, 16 of those full-time. I am only licensed to practice law inNew York.

Previously, I held a variety of jobs, including as acook, administrative assistant, associate attorney, biology andpsychology tutor, salesperson, andcorporate trainer. I consider myself apolymath: I graduated fromThe Bronx High School of Science, and in college, I majored inpolitical science, minored inbiology, and earned significant academic credits inchemistry, physics, psychology, andsociology. I hold adoctorate in law from thelaw school of theoldest nonsectarian private university in North America, where I was a managing editor of the first volume ofAlbany Law Journal of Science and Technology.

I may not be anotable academic, but I was prominent at the college that I taught and even in that sector of Higher Ed. I am most proud that I was able to increase student retention from 40 % to 82 % in my programs.

    My Wikipedia work

    [edit]

For a list of my contributions, seeuser:Bearian/Contributions.

I was involved with theWikipedia:WikiProject Unreferenced articles/Backlog drives/February 2024, and sourced 10 articles. My projects for November 2024 was theWikipedia:WikiProject Unreferenced articles/Backlog drives/November 2024, when I sourced 45 articles, and into January through March 2025 wasDress code.

My project starting in April 2025 has been assessing as many stubs as possible atWikipedia:WikiProject Law/Assessment. In June, I participated in theWikipedia:WikiProject Unreferenced articles/Backlog drives/June 2025, and completed 90 articles and stubs sourced in 30 days, or 3 per day. I'm continuingto source, redirect, or propose articles for deletion. This month, I'm participating in theWikipedia:WikiProject Unreferenced articles/Backlog drives/November 2025.

I copy edited 15 articles for theWikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Backlog elimination drives/September 2025, andtied for third place!

Wikipedia reliesnot merely on expertise, but onreliable, verifiable, and independent sources. You can alwayslook it up here. I have been an editor for Wikipedia since February 7, 2007. With over 118,000 edits, andabout 204 articles created and kept, I am one of the top 800most prolific Wikipedians, most recently at 754th place.

I was chosen an administrator on September 27, 2007, and after more than 7 years' service, resigned on January 16, 2015; however, I will remain an editor.

    Potential biases

    [edit]
    See also:WP:COI,WP:DCOI,WP:AGF,Wikipedia:Paid_editing § Paid_editing, andUser:Guy Macon/Yes. We are biased.

My user name wasdoxed, so I decided to reveal my potential biases. (At leastmy cell is still unlisted.)

Yes, I lovescience, or as some idiot calls us,one of the "science-loving censors at Wikipedia".

I have been a member of theSierra Club for 25 years, and have won volunteer awards for my work with them and other environmental groups, includingParks & Trails New York andHostelling International.

In 2002, I was received into theEpiscopal Church USA from theRoman Catholic church.

I have been a member of theDemocratic Party (United States) for many years. While I am no longer a committeeman, I had been a political consultant and an election inspector, for which I am paid (in 2012, that was about $1,500 total; in 2013-2016, 2019-2020, and 2024, about $325-$800 annually, but nothing in 2017-2018 and 2021-2023). I havenot been paid, nor do I expect to be paid for the purpose of any such editing from 2013 through 2025. (To my horror, I've discovered that much of this information is publicly available.)

I am an attorney, butnothing I write on this website should be interpreted as creating an attorney-client relationship, nor of providing legal advice.

My fiance′ was anAsian-Americannursing educator, baritone, and film producer, but is now retired except as an amateur singer.

Wherever I personally know, or am related to, a person, I try to disclose that fact when I have edited their article. This includes classmates, pen-pals, distant relatives, and celebrities and other people I've met. I have indicated so onmy contributions page with a, which indicates a person who I know (or knew) personally. I have used a to indicate a place that I have visited personally, or cultural phenomenon that I have experienced. Imight be distantly related toLindsay Lohan.

As a general rule, if I'm aware that I'm eventwo degrees of separation from aliving person whose article is up for deletion, then I mightdiscuss it but I wouldn't formally vote. I have been involved in politics, representing musicians, and bar associations, so I know alot of people. For examples, seeWikipedia:Articles for deletion/Matthew Bell (lawyer),Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Carson Cooman (2nd nomination),Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Clayton Banks,Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Pervis Taylor,Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Gary R. McCarthy,Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Michael Dorf (entrepreneur), andWikipedia:Articles for deletion/Vivienne Pinay. More recently, seeWikipedia:Articles for deletion/Annie Minogue Band,Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Julie Katzman,Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jeremy Robin Lyons,Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jeff Brillinger,Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Yohanna Roa, andWikipedia:Articles for deletion/Clifton Mooney. For proposed deletion, seeTalk:Greg Haberny andKaren Snow (executive).

As I wrote at AFD,It's a Small World After All,Six degrees of separation, andWP:DCOI mean that we're all connected, but if you're too closely connected, you shouldn't !vote in an AfD discussion. Also, while I'm not notable, I've lived in neighborhoods that have lots of notable people.

If they're dead, then I shall speak well of them. If they're more remote, then I will get involved.

I despise bigotry in its many forms. It also invariably involves aBLP violation. I supportWikipedia:No queerphobia.

I have been owned by several cats and a dog, but am currently not owned by any four-legged companion animals.

I havenot been paid to edit by my past employers, which includeBryant & Stratton College,Barnes and Noble, etc.

I hatepuff pages that masquerade as articles; for tell-tale signs of such, seeUser:Largoplazo#Telltale signs of candidates for deletion.
