University Physics, informally known asSears & Zemansky, is a three-volume physics textbook written byHugh Young and Roger Freedman. The first edition ofUniversity Physics was published byMark Zemansky andFrancis Sears in 1949.[1][2] Hugh Young became a coauthor with Sears and Zemansky in 1973. Now in its 15th edition,University Physics is among the most widely used introductory textbooks in the world.[3]

Volume One coversmechanics;waves andacoustics; andthermodynamics. Volume Two goes overelectricity andmagnetism; andoptics. Volume Three gives an overview of topics in modern physics (special relativity,quantum mechanics,nuclear physics,particle physics, andcosmology).
