TheUnited Arab Emirates competed in theSummer Olympic Games for the first time at the1984 Summer Olympics held inLos Angeles. Athletes participating includedRashed Jerba,Ibrahim Aziz, Helel Ali, andShadad Mubarak. Muhammed Samy Abdulla andKhamis Ebrahem also competed.[2]
TheUnited Arab Emirates National Olympic Committee was recognised by theInternational Olympic Committee (IOC) on 1 January 1980.[3] The nation debuted at the Olympics four years later at these Games.[4] They have never participated in aWinter Olympic Games.[4] The 1984 Summer Olympics were held from 28 July to 12 August 2012; a total of 6800 athletes represented 140National Olympic Committees (NOC).[5]
