TheUnion with Scotland (Amendment) Act 1707 (6 Ann. . c. 40)[f] is anact of theParliament of Great Britain. It is chapter VI in thecommon printed editions.[1]
The act was partly in force in Great Britain at the end of 2010.[2]
It united theEnglish andScottish Privy Councils anddecentralised Scottish administration by appointingjustices of the peace in eachshire to carry out administration. In effect it took the day-to-daygovernment of Scotland out of the hands of politicians and into those of theCollege of Justice.
Section 4 of the act was repealed by the schedule to theCircuit Courts and Criminal Procedure (Scotland) Act 1925 (15 & 16 Geo. 5. c. 81 .
Section 5 of the act was repealed by section 175 of, and Schedule 9 to, theRepresentation of the People Act 1949 (12, 13 & 14 Geo. 6. c. 68).
Section 6 of the act was repealed by theStatute Law Revision Act 1867 (30 & 31 Vict. c. 59 ).
