Udyotakara (orUddyotakara) (c. 6th century CE) was a philosopher of theNyaya school of Indian philosophy.Subandhu’sVāsavadattā mentioned him as the rescuer of theNyaya. He was abrahmin ofBharadvajagotra and he belonged to thePashupata sect. His philosophical treatise, theNyāyavārttika was written to defendPakṣilasvāmin Vātsyāyana'sNyāyabhāṣya against the criticisms made byDignaga.[1]
