UFC on Fox: Johnson vs. Reis (also known asUFC on Fox 24) was amixed martial arts event produced by theUltimate Fighting Championship held on April 15, 2017, at theSprint Center inKansas City, Missouri.[2][3]
The event was the first that the UFC has hosted in the state ofMissouri and theKansas City metropolitan area.[2]
AUFC Flyweight Championship match between current championDemetrious Johnson andWilson Reis headlined this event.[4] The pairing was originally booked forUFC 201, but Johnson pulled out due to an undisclosed injury and the bout was scrapped.[5]
UFC officials were initially targeting a featherweight bout between formerUFC Bantamweight ChampionRenan Barão andChoi Doo-ho to serve as the event headliner.[6] However, as the announcement of the pairing began to circulate, Choi declined the bout, and as a result, Barao was rescheduled against a different opponent at another event.[7]
