UFC on FX: Maynard vs. Guida (also known asUFC on FX 4) was amixed martial arts event held by theUltimate Fighting Championship on June 22, 2012 inRevel Casino inAtlantic City,New Jersey.[3]
The main event consists of a five-round, non-championship, bout betweenClay Guida andGray Maynard. This was Guida's first fight since losing to future UFC Lightweight ChampionBenson Henderson on November 12, 2011 atUFC on Fox 1. Maynard's previous bout was on October 8, 2011 atUFC 136, against then UFC Lightweight ChampionFrankie Edgar.[4]
The event was the seventh that the UFC has hosted in Atlantic City, but the first sinceUFC 53 in 2005.[5][6]
Rich Attonito was expected to faceRick Story at the event. However, Attonito was forced out of the bout with an injury and replaced byPapy Abedi.[7] Abedi was also forced out of the fight with an injury and replaced by newcomer Brock Jardine.[8]
Jimy Hettes was expected to faceSteven Siler at the event. However, Hettes was forced out of the bout with an injury and replaced by newcomer Joey Gambino.[9]
Matt Riddle was expected to faceLuis Ramos in the event. However, Riddle was forced out of the bout with an injury and replaced byMatt Brown.[10]
Edwin Figueroa was expected to faceKen Stone at the event. However, Figueroa was forced out of the bout with an injury and replaced byFrancisco Rivera. Rivera was injured as well and was replaced byDustin Pague, who had just fought and won atUFC on FX: Johnson vs. McCall two weeks before this event.[11]
