A featherweight bout between formerUFC Featherweight Championship challengerBrian Ortega andThe Ultimate Fighter: Latin America featherweight winnerYair Rodríguez headlined the event.[4]

A flyweight bout between formerUFC Flyweight Championship challengerAlex Perez andAskar Askarov was expected to take place at the event.[5] The pair was previously scheduled to meet atUFC on ESPN: Hall vs. Strickland in July 2021, but Askarov pulled out citing injury.[6] Askarov pulled out once again in early June due to undisclosed reasons and Perez was rescheduled againstAlexandre Pantoja atUFC 277.[7]

A women’s strawweight bout between formerUFC Women's Strawweight Championship challenger and inauguralInvicta FC Atomweight ChampionJessica Penne and formerInvicta FC Strawweight ChampionBrianna Fortino was expected to take place at the event.[8] However, Fortino withdrew in early June for unknown reasons and was replaced by another former Invicta FC Strawweight Champion inEmily Ducote.[9]

A women's flyweight bout between formerStrikeforce andUFC Women's Bantamweight ChampionMiesha Tate and formerInvicta FC Bantamweight Champion (also formerUFC Women's Flyweight Championship challenger)Lauren Murphy was originally expected forUFC on ESPN: Błachowicz vs. Rakić but was then shifted toUFC 276 for unknown reasons.[10][11] In turn, a week before that event, Murphy pulled out after shetested positive for COVID-19.[12] They were then rescheduled for this event.[13]

A couple of featherweight bouts featuringBill Algeo vs.Billy Quarantillo andHerbert Burns vs. Khusein Askhabov were scheduled for this event.[14][15] However, after both Quarantillo and Askhabov pulled out due to injury, Burns and Algeo were booked against each other.[16]

Philip Rowe andAbubakar Nurmagomedov were expected to meet in a welterweight contest.[17] However, the pairing was cancelled due to complications on both sides. Rowe has been forced to withdraw due to an injury, while Nurmagomedov pulled out due to allegedvisa issues which restricted his travel.[18]
