UFC Live: Sanchez vs. Kampmann (also known asUFC on Versus 3) was amixed martial arts event held by theUltimate Fighting Championship that took place on March 3, 2011, at theKFC Yum! Center inLouisville, Kentucky.[2][3] The event was broadcast onVersus in the U.S. andRogers Sportsnet One in Canada. This was the first UFC event to be broadcast in 3D.[4]
This event was the first UFC event hosted inKentucky.
Matt Brown was expected to face Mark Scanlon at the event,[5] but Scanlon was forced off the card[6] and was to be replaced byMatt Riddle.[7] However, the match was cancelled after Riddle injured his right hand on January 20.[8]
Maiquel Falcao was due to take onAlessio Sakara, but pulled out of the bout due to an injury.Rafael Natal was to step in as his replacement,[9] however on February 12, it was announced that Natal had pulled out of the bout due to a knee injury.[10] Natal was replaced byChris Weidman, making his UFC debut at this event.[11]
Rousimar Palhares was set to faceAlexandre Ferreira. However, on January 18, Ferreira was dismissed fromChute Boxe, his home training camp, citing a "lack of communication."[12] Less than an hour later, it was reported that Ferreira would not be competing after losing family and friends in theBrazilian floods, resulting in him being in "no condition to train or fight."[13] and was replaced byDavid Branch.[14]
A bout betweenJohny Hendricks andPaulo Thiago was expected for the event.[15] However, the bout was canceled after Thiago was forced out with an elbow injury.[16]
Takeya Mizugaki was scheduled to take onFrancisco Rivera, but on February 12, Rivera had to pull out due to an undisclosed training injury.[17] Mizugaki instead faced UFC newcomerReuben Duran.[18]
Cub Swanson was due to take onErik Koch at this event, but the bout was cancelled after Swanson suffered a training injury.[19] Koch was instead moved to a fight withRaphael Assunção atUFC 128.[20]

FormerWorld Extreme Cagefighting play by play announcer Todd Harris called the 3D broadcast of this event, with UFC featherweightKenny Florian on color commentary.[22] They had previously done commentary together atWEC 41 andWEC 49.
The event drew an average of 681,000 viewers onVersus.[23]
