Tyler Victor Olsson is a Canadian actor. He is known for playing Ord in thePBS Kids animated children's seriesDragon Tales (1999–2005), real-life9/11 heroMark Bingham in theA&E television filmFlight 93 (2006), and Benny Lafitte inSupernatural (2013–2019).

Early life

Olsson was born on January 28, 1974 inHalifax,Nova Scotia, Canada.[1] He was raised inOttawa, Ontario.[1] He attended Canterbury High School,[1] an arts school in Ottawa where he specialized in drama, dance, and music. He continued to study acting atStudio 58.[1]

Career

Olsson has primarily appeared in supporting or character roles in a number of films and television shows. As a voice actor, he is best known as the voice of Herry in the hit Canadian television seriesClass of the Titans and Ian's older brother Kyle in theYTV animated seriesBeing Ian.[1] He has also been featured inBattlestar Galactica,[1] in Christmas Caper alongside Shannen Doherty in 2007, and as Rollie Crane inDefying Gravity.[2] Olsson starred as9/11 victimMark Bingham in theA&E television filmFlight 93.[3] Ty originated the role of Deputy Andy onEureka, but was replaced byKavan Smith after two appearances. One of Olsson's most notable roles is Benny, a vampire, on Season 8 ofSupernatural.[4][5][6][7]

Personal life

Olsson was married to Leanna Nash from 2005 until their divorce in 2012.[1] They have two children, a son, Dagan and a daughter, MacKenzie.[1] On September 7, 2019, Olsson married Katherine Lohmeyer, a NICU nurse in Las Vegas, Nevada.[8] Ty Olsson and Katherine Lohmeyer filed a joint petition for divorce on September 8, 2021.[9]

Olsson is currently in a relationship with fellowSupernatural actorDJ Qualls, and the two have plans to get married.[10]
