Turon Shire was alocal government area in theCentral West region ofNew South Wales, Australia.
Turon Shire was proclaimed on 7 March 1906, one of 134 shires created after the passing of theLocal Government (Shires) Act 1905.[1] The shire absorbed theMunicipality of Hill End on 17 June 1908.[2]
The shire offices were inKelso.[3] Other towns and villages in the shire includedHill End,Raglan,Sofala,Sunny Corner andWattle Flat.[3]
Turon Shire was abolished on 1 October 1977 and along with theCity of Bathurst andAbercrombie Shire was divided into a reconstituted City of Bathurst and a newEvans Shire.[4]
