Tuktukan is one of the 38barangays ofTaguig, Philippines. Since 1958, it is the center of the city (poblacion) as it is the location of the Taguig City Hall.[2]

The word Tuktukan was coined by theSpanish as "Toctocan", which inTagalog means an object to tap or to hit, referring to an instrument typically a plank of wood or rock utilized by women for laundry purposes. This practice was observed by the friars upon their arrival at theplacet.
On August 1, 1958, the seat of government of Taguig was transferred fromSanta Ana to Tuktukan, when PresidentCarlos P. Garcia signed Executive Order No. 311, s. 1958.[3]
Based on the census 1980, Tuktukan had a population of 5,777. The total land area of thebarangay is 31 hectares (77 acres).[4]
Tuktukan is bounded on the north byUsusan, to the east byCalzada Tipas, to the south bySanta Ana, and on the west by theTaguig River.
Tuktukan is the location of the Taguig City Hall, constructed in 1959 and the seat of city government. Shopping centers such as Puregold Taguig and Vista Mall Taguig, partially situated there, serve the community.
