Tshegofatso John Mabasa (born 1 October 1996) is a South African professionalsoccer player who plays as aforward forOrlando Pirates.[2]
Born inBloemfontein,[1] Mabasa's first career club wasBloemfontein Celtic.[2][3] He made his first-team debut during a2014 Telkom Knockout encounter withAmaZulu on 4 October, which was followed by his professional league debut in theSouth African Premier Division in May 2015 versusFree State Stars.[2] In total, he made thirty-one appearances for the club in his first four seasons; during which time he also scored his first senior goals, netting in Telkom Knockout ties withPlatinum Stars andPolokwane City in November 2017.[2] His first goal in league action arrived on 5 August 2018 in a 2–0 win overChippa United.
In the2023/24 season he finished as atop goal scorer in the league while playing forOrlando Pirates.
Mabasa scored his Orlando Pirates's 2nd hat-trick, on 24 December 2024 againstMarumo Gallants. Which made him the second all-time scorer of Orlando Pirates with 44 goals for the club.
Mabaso has represented South Africa atsenior level, winning his first cap during a2018 African Nations Championship qualifier withZambia on 19 August 2017.[4][5] He had previously featured for theSouth Africa under-23s.[6]
