Triunfo is a municipality in theNortheasternBrazilian state ofPernambuco. The estimated population in 2020, according tothe Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) was 15,243. The area of the municipality is 191.52 km2,[2] and in 2010 the population density was 78 inhabitants/km2.[3]Triunfo sits at an elevation of 1,004 metres (3,294 ft) in a forested part of theSertão, and is the highest municipality in Pernambuco.
Far inland and with a milder climate than the surrounding semi-arid plateau, the city has the nickname "Oasis of the Sertão",[4] and tourism is a significant part of the economy. Its currentmayor is Luciano Fernando de Sousa (better known as Luciano Bonfim) of theAvante party, elected in2020.[5]
